Many stores in the ‘hood/food deserts are completely dependent on redistributed wealth/welfare; their prices would shock working people (they are high, but most customers aren’t spending their own money anyway).
I have little sympathy for the store owners who have set up to make some money off the welfare hatcheries.
As long as benefits are still denominated in dollars there will be incentives to shop outside the system. Let it become something “egalitarian” like “food points” and then we will see captive markets.
