Thanks for your comments. I have done all the ideas and methods you mention. Some had worked and some not so well. Have also had the same experience as you re: survival of hives.

I’m not clear as to what you mean by using tobacco in your smoker. Do you mean tobacco leaf? Since I am from Kentucky where tobacco is still grown, I’ll have to call upon a few friends to mail some leaf to me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, plain leaf tobacco. The nicotine and VOC’s kill tracheal mites. Don’t use any processed tobacco. It has stuff in it.
