How much does Thomas Paine matter? More than Harriet Beecher Stowe? Less than Elvis? On a par with Dwight Eisenhower? Would you have answered these questions differently ten years ago? Will you answer them differently ten years from now? In a culture so saturated with information and so fragmented by the search possibilities of the Internet, how do we measure historical significance?

Even with one of the 10 categories limited to women, females were only able to get 23 out of the 100.
One of those being Sacagawea, whose importance on any reasonable metric has been ridiculously overstated.
The rankings are supposedly developed using a non-opinion data mining type of algorithm.
Obama is on that list, he is zero.
Expect the Smithsonian to lose any government funding in the near future, OR, expect an abrupt change in the board of directors, OR, a scandal to drive out those involved in making up this list.
Deities don’t usually make lists like this.
