Infamous Quote from Mayer Amschel Rothschild
Re your Earliest citation is for 1935. Please note the following
I’m fully aware of Mayer and his history.
The “quote” is, per your own source, at minimum questionable. IOW, I have yet to see any evidence he actually said it.
The primary reason to question its authenticity is that in 1790 even governments, much less private banking firms, did not, for the most part, control the money supply. As I said, America and France made utterly disastrous attempts around this time to do so. But those attempts did not show results likely to encourage others to imitate them.
Most critically, there is the old saw. Men with gold cannot always get guns, but men with guns can always get gold.
IOW, it is to my mind idiotic to think that the world’s ambitious politicians, in control of raw force, have been tamed and secretly controlled from behind the scenes for at least two centuries by men who control nothing but money. Their control of which in the final analysis is utterly dependent on the support of the men with guns.
Power grows out of the barrel of a gun, not the slot of an ATM.
