Infamous Quote from Mayer Amschel Rothschild

Another Source

Re your Earliest citation is for 1935. Please note the following

Actual Details

This quote has nothing to do with the Federal Reserve, in fact he died in 1812, long before the Federal Reserve existed. He was merely stating a fact, even if money is not backed by a central bank, it does not change the fact that if you have control over the money supply, laws mean little to you. However, that is not necessarily true in the US, where the Federal Reserve must answer to the congress, but because the Federal Reserve is private, congress cannot control it and use it for political means -- which seems ironic, but it is like a private company that is indirectly controlled by the US Congress.

I’m fully aware of Mayer and his history.

The “quote” is, per your own source, at minimum questionable. IOW, I have yet to see any evidence he actually said it.

The primary reason to question its authenticity is that in 1790 even governments, much less private banking firms, did not, for the most part, control the money supply. As I said, America and France made utterly disastrous attempts around this time to do so. But those attempts did not show results likely to encourage others to imitate them.

Most critically, there is the old saw. Men with gold cannot always get guns, but men with guns can always get gold.

IOW, it is to my mind idiotic to think that the world’s ambitious politicians, in control of raw force, have been tamed and secretly controlled from behind the scenes for at least two centuries by men who control nothing but money. Their control of which in the final analysis is utterly dependent on the support of the men with guns.

Power grows out of the barrel of a gun, not the slot of an ATM.
