I don’t agree with the premise of this book. I think his time periods are off and his scenarios are anachronistic. He’s speculating this will happen around the 2060s.
I recommend reading The Fourth Turning. We’re about a decade from a major crisis. 2060 will more probably be just after a cultural change period, like what the 1970s were like.
He’s describing military equipment that will no longer exist and cultural stereotypes that, even now, are gone (Korean and Jewish shopkeepers).
The story might be more believable as an alternative history set in the 1960s.
No, the story takes place starting about now. The 2060s you see in the preface are several decades after the primary events in the book.
