Certainly helps.

Then again, if everyone is going to be plugging their car into the wall each night, then we are going to have seriously upgrade our power plants and distribution system.

Right now, all efforts are to shrink and shut down power production. The completely opposite direction. Pretty short sighted.

Thing about nature is that you don't get anything for free. If you switch from one energy source like gasoline to another such as electricity, that load is transferred and all of those BTUs that are burned in gasoline have to be provided by the power plant. The amount of energy that we consume in gasoline per year is huge.

agree. if suddenly the whole automobile system shifted over to electricity, there would be blackouts across the land.

However, things likely won’t happen that fast. There will be time to adjust and adapt if that happens.

I think everyone on this board seriously underestimates the vision of the left here.

The best thing the pubbies can do is to go all in for nuclear research to produce portable 4th generation nuclear reactors that promise to cut the cost of electricity by 1/4-1/10. These include the lftr msr thorium reactors and even the portable fusion reactors that the skunkworks announced recently’

Cut the cost of electricity to 1/4-1/10 the cost of current cheapest coal and then you have the real revolution and the makings for a successful 21st century.
