Up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner have been recovered by the IRS inspector general, five months after they were deemed lost forever.
The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional staffers from several committees on Friday that the emails were found among hundreds of disaster recovery tapes that were used to back up the IRS email system.
They just said it took them several weeks and some forensic effort to get these emails off these tapes, a congressional aide told the Washington Examiner.

Because what the question is to the non-political IT professional is, "hey, you mean to tell me your systems weren't backed up?" and the answer "no," means "no, I'm a complete professional incompetent who ought to be refitting PlayStations for a Chinese sweat shop." For a political wonk, "I'm a complete moron" is professionally acceptable - look at Congress, for example - for an IT geek, it isn't.
Subtracting Saturdays, Sundays, Federal Holidays, and two week vacation days not worked between 2009 and 2011, the 30,000 found emails amount to over 60 a day from her. Those are just the ones found so far. How could she find the time to harass conservative not for profits?
I read a snippet somewhere online—and I do mean one sentence, that he released more GITMO terrorists today as well?
Fridays, in The Age of Zero, now cause the same level of dread as Sunday evenings used to cause when I was one of 5 kids in an alcoholic Irish-Catholic-Dem household; we never knew what would happen as our impending doom was dependent on a delicate balance of exhaustion and beer. In other words, the more my father slept, the better. But if he drank all weekend and was awake and had time to brood about how rotten life was (I’m guessing), Sunday night could be “a mutha” as my late brother used to say.
And I am certain he would be using that along with many other choice descriptive words if he were alive today...
I have no clue what you just said....
You certainly have a talent for quaint verbal descriptions. ;oD
LOL! Me too! I always wonder why Heston and James Franciscus always seemed so stressed out, I mean my God, if I landed on a planet and that was awaiting me I would think I died and went to heaven lol lol lol
Well we know CivilWarBrewing is not Chris Matthhews incognito...
If they searched for all emails from her anywhere in the mail store, they would have picked up every copy of emails sent to multiple recipients or members of a distribution list, so they may have many multiple copies of some of them.
If I were working for the Dems, God forbid, keeping their network and computers safe and uncracked would be a point of professional pride even though I despise the customer. Not just a matter of personal ethics, although that would be sufficient, but a matter of finding another job someday with that sort of incompetence on my resume.
Gee, they just happen to show up now. You can bet the incriminating ones were flushed into the recycle bin.
30,000 emails when did she find time to do anything else
Unexpected.
Got it. I hope you’re right that there were no shenanigans and we’re finally going to start to see the evidence we know for a fact is out there.
Not that anyone with an R after their name will do a damn thing about it. Frickin issa makes me ill.
Yea, several weeks to get all the damaging information out of the batch of emails.
If it wasn’t such a blatant breaking of the law, it would be laughable.
Issa is a Republican in the House.
Jason Chaffetz (Utah) is the newly elected Chairman replacing Issa in the new Congress.
wow that is a hell of a lotta hate mail.
what passes for it geek these days are script kiddies and liouiounioux tardz that think they can run the world
these were not backup media - it was disaster recovery media
Of course he is. He has been the Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, running the hearings on the IRS scandals. But, he is term limited in that role and will be replaced in the new Congress. The Senate committees that might investigate such misconduct have been chaired by Democrats these last many years. They will have new Republican Chairs in the new Congress. Are you related to Professor Gruber?
Someone at the IRS really, really, really needs to go to jail.
