Theres a lot to celebrate tonight, Telemundo anchor José DíazBalart declared during Telemundos special coverage of President Obamas Nov. 20 announcement of unilateral executive actions that include lifting the threat of deportation for 4.1 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States, along with eliminating the Secure Communities program of federal, state and local cooperation in the enforcement of U.S. immigration law that was launched during the administration of President George W. Bush.
Like his Univision counterpart Jorge Ramos also frequently does on the issue of immigration, the Telemundo anchorman essentially swung into advocacy mode during a special post-speech Telemundo segment analyzing the Presidents latest actions. This is not amnesty, Díaz-Balart repeated twice, saying the Presidents actions do not constitute amnesty for the targeted unauthorized immigrant beneficiaries because the deportation relief given by Obama is temporary in nature (for three years) and does not provide permanent legal residency or U.S. citizenship.
Díaz-Balarts co-anchor, María Celeste Arrarás, made similar statements in support of the Presidents actions, saying the beneficiaries of Obamas decree deserve everything that has been done today. Díaz-Balart and Arrarás were joined by Telemundo Washington correspondent Lori Montenegro who, when asked by Arrarás if the Presidents speech had achieved the goal of justifying his actions to the American people, responded that it had.
In addition, the segment featured coverage of celebratory community viewings of the Presidents speech in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Salinas, California. The only opponents of the Presidents actions included in these reports were people who thought the President should have included even more categories of unauthorized immigrants in his deportation relief initiative.
Telemundos anchors were briefly joined in studio by Congressman Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) and Republican analyst Adolfo Franco. Franco questioned the legality of the Presidents actions and pointed out that the Presidents policies had been rejected by the American people during the recent mid-term elections. In response, Gutiérrez once again sought to delegitimize the election results, charging that the Republicans had won the elections with lies.
Former Obama White House aide Luis Miranda was also called in to defend the Presidents position on Telemundo, as was the National Council of La Razas Clarissa Jiménez and veteran activist Eliseo Medina, a former honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Besides Adolfo Franco, the only other identifiable opponent of the Presidents actions featured during the segment was Díaz-Balarts brother, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), who lamented that by his actions the President had undermined the rule of law in the United States. What exists here is the rule of law, because the law governs, not a man or woman, the law, concluded the Congressman.
Is it just me or does it seem like Mexicans should be offended that Preezy Obola and Telemundo are basically calling Mexico a sh*thole from which anybody in their right mind would want to escape?
I woke up and felt real bad. PERSONALLY, I have lost 2,500 U.S. Dollars in the last 6 years in honest efforts trying to get visitor visas for GOOD people who only wanted to visit the USA to attend a church even. They were sent AWAY and told to TRY AGAIN, visas denied. And then to see 5 million people who LIED, paid illegal law breaking smugglers to get them to the USA to be REWARDED with a fast lane US Passport...is disgusting. I like law and order. I guess this would make me a Republican.
Yes they are. I watched all the Spanish news and they show them all in ectasy and they were interviewing Latinos who are illegal crying with joy. What I also notice how important this is for the Hispanic comjunity NOT the United States.
If your cable company is carrying this network, then it is your duty to cancel your subscription.
You wont miss it.
They would be offended if they weren’t so busy trying to escape.
1] If we adopt Mexico’s immigration laws we would be called RACIST. For my side Icdon’t care.
Neither do I, since it’s used only to shut down opposition these days, not as it’s defined in the dictionary.
Obama's Executive Amnesty Could REWARD MILLIONS OF IMMIGRANTS WHO VIOLATED OUR SOVEREIGNTY ENTERING ILEGALLY IN THE COUNTRY, BUT IT WILL PROFOUNDLY AFFECT THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF UNEMPLOYED AMERICAN BLUE COLLAR WORKERS.
Blacks are going to be the main collateral victims of Obama's anti-Black amnesty.
OBAMAS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMNESTY TO MIGRANTS THAT ARE LIVING ILLEGALLY IN THE U.S.A.
After destroying the best health care system in the world, Obama is determined to grant wide amnesty to foreigners living illegally in U.S. If Obama wants to make the U.S. into another banana republic, it seems he is well underway to reaching his goal.
The Republicans must make it perfectly clear that Obama has declared a merciless war against the American workers and the middle class of America. There are 92 million of able Americans out of the work force because they cannot find employment and Obama wants to legalize and give work permits to over 11 million illegal aliens allowing them to bring here the rest of their families. In other words, another 25 or 30 million that either will compete with Americans and legal immigrants searching for scarce jobs or are going to be added to welfare, bankrupting Medicaid and the food stamp system as well as ruining even more the quality of the public schools with the massive infuse of hundreds of thousands of children without speaking English to already overburdened schools systems.
Blacks are going to be the main collateral victims of Obama's anti-Black amnesty. Black Americans are already suffering higher unemployment since Obama took power. Obamas new class of protected immigrants will take over their jobs and Blacks will be forced to share their welfare checks and food stamps with them
