On November 20, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America delivered a petition to the Harris Teeter grocers asking them to bar law-abiding citizens from carrying guns in their stores. Harris Teeter responded by saying they have no plans to change their policy, which allows the carrying of guns in states and municipalities where doing so is legal.
According to The Charlotte Observer, North Carolina-based Harris Teeter issued a statement expressing its position: "We have and will continue to adhere to the firearms and concealed handgun laws as outlined by states in which we do business. We believe this issue is best handled by lawmakers, not retailers."
Breitbart News previously reported that Moms Demand was rebuffed by Kroger in August, after they pressured that grocery chain to bar law-abiding citizens from carrying guns in its stores. Kroger told Moms Demand they abide by state and local laws and trust their customers "to be responsible" to carry guns where allowed.

Time to make the effort to get to the Harris-Teeter closest to us!
I like Harris Teeter, but I actually see open-carry people with yellow ‘don’t tread on me’ shirts at Safeway, so I go there. :-)
I would also ask these Moms to point out examples of gun violence at the stores in question.
If I lived near one of these stores, I’d pay a bit higher prices to do business there, because I would know it’s a safer environment.
It takes REAL courage for a corporation to do something like this during this day and age!! They need to be supported where it really counts!(at the cash register)
You never know when the carrots will jump off the shelf and attack the customers.
Or, gun violence by law abiding gun owners.
Support the stores!
Way to go Kroger and Harris Teeter!
The most hilarious thing about this is that Harris Teeter is owned by Kroger. Did these demanding-mom fools simply not know that? Or were they stupid enough to think Kroger would reverse their earlier stance for the chain as a whole and carve out a separate policy for just a tiny piece of their whole corporation?
