No. Prejudice is not selective. One can be prejudiced against a race, as many southerners are in seeing the entire group as lesser beings, while excepting their personal friends and there may be many of those. The category of Negroes is a lump thing that refers to those folks over there with whom there is no interaction and about whom there are attitudes that go way back. Seegar and Robert and Lashika are personal acquaintances and not part of that category. A southerner mostly doesn’t think to ask one of his friends, “as a black man how do you...” Many Northerners(of the left handed variety) who insist that there is no difference at all are constantly pointing out to their black acquaintances that they are black- “As a black man...” and actually treat blacks as a homogenous group of aliens.
