The expanded House Republican majority is about to face some tests of unity, so its notable that theyre sticking to at least one principle. The House Republican caucus on Friday overwhelmingly beat back a bid by party spenders to reinstate earmarks.
This was no foregone conclusion. Four years into the earmark ban, legislators on both sides .......
In introducing his repeal of the earmark ban on Friday, Alabama Rep. Mike Rogers.......
.....Tom DeLay logrolling that contributed to the GOP defeat in 2006. Republicans are wise to resist the temptation.

GOP - “Now that we have the House for at least two more election cycles, we need to get back to the business of spending this country into oblivion.”
The GOP adults - “Ssshhhhhhh. It’s too early for that. We need a Republican POTUS first. Be patient.”
I love it when people say there is no difference between the two parties.
Darn, I was looking forward to finally getting my Bacon Stamps.
I worked in the House for an incoming new member from the 2008 elections. I was shocked at how many of his “conservative” colleagues who I have known for years tried to talk him out of his anti-earmark pledge. I was treated as naive for believing that such a thing was a good idea. After all he had only won by 1500 votes. We were told we needed to flood the district with pork to build up his popularity. We didn’t of course, and he won his 2010 race with 60% of the vote. Glad to see the movement to abolish earmarks gaining some steam.
Excellent post/story!
You should love it. They're the only ones providing any real pressure to make sure there is some difference.
You probably shouldn't get too cocky. Republicans are going to have to do a whole lot more than this to prove they're worth more than a bucket of warm spit.
This is a real war for the survival of our country, and pea shooters ain't gonna cut it.

This bodes well for the new Republican caucus — particularly Boehner’s leadership in opposing earmarks. I hope the Republican caucus and Boehner continue in standing firm.
The $18T and counting debt needs to be cut or the GOP is toast.
I’d like to see which Republicans wanted to reinstate earmarks
I don’t know of many Republicans who favor amnesty these days.
I would think and hope many will remember what happened to Eric Cantor.
Thank you as always for your very kind words.
Love and kisses back to you.
I still believe Eric Cantor’s surprise defeat will serve as a reminder to most Republicans not support amnesty and to secure the border. Even the Chamber of Commerce and Cantor’s vast resources could not save him.
We’ll see though. I also believe Soetoro’s executive orders will only succeed in backfiring and kill off any possibility of an amnesty bill emerging from Congress.
Just my opinion. We’ll have to stay tuned and see how it unfolds.
Lotsa love!
