We heard a big boom in south central Ohio in October of last year. All the neighbors came outside. I though it might be a propane explosion, it shook the ground and everything. It was probably a meteor or some space junk. It was heard in several counties.

been HEARD around the world.
There have been reports of strange sounds that make no sense around the world for several years now. They sound similar to the sounds found in The War of The Worlds movie with Tom Cruise. Some of them have been proven to be hoaxes and obviously used some of the sounds from the movie. Others thought it had to do with the HAARP system which theys say has been shut down for some time now.

Or I use to live near a major river, somehow sometimes those big steel boats can make sounds like booms, I never would have thought it until I witnessed it myself.

When I worked at a small company in Camarillo, Calif. next to very large strawberry fields, I saw the best job in the world.
A guy drove an ATV up and down the strawberry rows and fired off cherry bombs and skyrockets all day long to scare off birds.
Had a cooler strapped on the back. Likely he was Mexican, I knew what he had in there, Mexicans I worked with all agreed.
As I said, best job in the world. You just knew that guy did not have ulcers or high blood pressure!

I've heard it here in North Carolina. I sort of took issue with it myself but I guess it is rare in that you might see it snow 100, 500 or a 1000 times and never hear thunder when it snows but then there will be that one time one does hear it.

Arriving. Arriving in the USA in anticipation of getting their green cards in a couple of weeks.

True--the sound of the mountains rising. They're earthquakes, deep and mild. I've heard such sounds at the times of small earthquakes (about 3 magnitude and less) reported in regards to a fault along a pass.
