I really must insert into this thread an observation. Carry_Okie and others, including myself, are rising the issue that with modern medical testing, a catastrophic genetic disease can usually be spotted long before birth.

Yes, but your other comments seem to indicate that you consider certain IQ scores or ethnicity to also be "catastrophic" genetic conditions.

There is another, and closely related issue, specifically that parents who deliberately birth children with genetic diseases usually ask, make that demand, that others pay for their child’s medical bills.

"Deliberately birth," what a clever euphemism for refusing to abort.

Do you actually have any documentation that such parents usually (e.g. more than 50% of the time) "demand" that others pay for their healthcare?

Why should I be billed for the raising of a child I neither fathered nor wanted?

Let me guess, you would pay to kill the child -- am I right?

Is not such a tax in the same realm of oppression as taxing me for another religion which I do not believe in?

Letting people live is taxing you for not believing in Judeo-Christian religious teachings?

For the better part of a century Christians have been paying to have your repugnant Darwinism taught in schools. Darwinism IS a religion and it originates in the depths of hell and it has been responsible for more deaths in the past century than all of the plagues, wars, famines, crimes and natural disasters in the history of the world combined. Americans spend billions paying for YOUR religion and it has caused nothing but death and misery.

Had we not allowed government into medical charity, this issue would not exist.

So, you're advocating a system where the poor are just left to die?

Looks like the Founders were correct when they severely limited government.

Founding Father John Adams was absolutely correct when he wrote the following:

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Our Founding Fathers limited government in order to PROTECT the rights of man, Darwinism wants to take those rights away.

I commend you for posting worthy information and questions.

You address some excellent issues and I support your position very much. It appears that "normal" healthy people seem to always have the answer to life and death when it comes to those who are not beneficial to their society or meet their standards.

Being a proud father of a gorgeous boy with Down Syndrome I can attest that there have been many in the past who made their positions known while referencing my son's condition. The opinions stated by the elite on here and other places are nothing new to me. They have ranged from nasty descriptions, to an argument about money, to a final assault on my wife and I on why we didn't simply abort "Someone who wouldn't ever contribute" anything. Even our dentist didn't want to talk about braces for our son because "he doesn't really need straight teeth anyway".

The poster you responded to lives in an artificial elite bubble with simple yes and no answers to the most complicated process, life it self. Everyday is a struggle to make sure he gets the SAME treatment as other children, but he will always need more attention. Simply measuring someone's IQ is not the only standard, and having witnessed some of the most glorious eye opening experiences with my son and what he has taught me and other children and adults about what life is really about I consider myself truly blessed.
