Grew up in Canada ... Ukrainians immigrated to Canada post WWII in huge numbers. They are rock solid Canadian citizens contributing in a big way. A Canadian Prime Minister will always support Ukrainians ... Canada has benefited greatly as a result of selecting Canada as their new home. This can be said of Polish, Latvian, Romanian, Hungarians as well.

There were legions of Ukrainian peasants settled on the prairies in an earlier era, too. Parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta were first settled by Ukrainian farmers. There are some very famous people in Canada with Ukrainian roots, including Ramon Hnatyshyn, from a big law firm in Saskatoon, who became Governor General.
