As we approach the grand jury decision after more than 80 days of protest, we understand that some members of the community are growing tired of civil unrest. They are asking questions about how it can end. Here are the Dont Shoot Coalitions answers to some of those questions. Protesters may have some points to make, but why cant they express them peacefully? The protests have been 99.5 percent nonviolent. But we are also being purposefully militant and disruptive. Change has not come through the courts, through politics or through gentle persuasion. We cannot wait any longer for whole segments of our society to gain freedom from abuse. Civil disobedience exposes tensions that already exist below the surface. Our society will not heal if we do not address issues that many people want to keep buried.
What good does it do to disrupt businesses and peoples lives, when these people are not part of the problem? Your question does not reflect the whole picture. This involves all of us. Its wrong to simply draw arbitrary boundaries around issues like fair policing, and decide that most folks are not involved. Many people especially white folks feel they can ignore the problem. People who benefit from or are not impacted by this unfair system have a duty to speak up and not be complicit. Ferguson has shifted the boundary line. It is not enough to say, Im not racist just because you have suppressed your conscious biases. The protests are designed to make people feel uncomfortable and spur us all to end societys structural biases.

I'm interested in whats going on. I'm sick and tired of the mau-mauing from slug racialists as represented by these writers.
For the same reason we had the DEW Line.
The Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line or Early Warning Line, was a system of radar stations in the far northern Arctic region of Canada, with additional stations along the North Coast and Aleutian Islands of Alaska, in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. It was set up to detect incoming Soviet bombers during the Cold War, and provide early warning for a land based invasion.
Hello, my name is Bill and I am a biased whitey! I am biased against thugs, muggers, looters, druggies, misfits, murderers, gangbangers, and liberals. There is no 12-step program that can help me. I am doomed to live the rest of my life as a biased whitey.
Candy shelf on the right...must be looking for Skittles.
Ask yourself
what if Michael Brown was white?
What if the white Michael Brown beat up a store owner, stole goods from his store, disobeyed cops orders to get out of the street, then tried to assault the cop inside his cruiser, then tried to steal the cops gun, and then ran at the cop while being told to stop?
Would anyone care of the white Michael Brown was shot?
The White Michael Brown’s parents would be apologizing to the cops and the store owner and pleading for peace in the streets.

Doesn’t apply to businesses, but looks like if you camp out in your business, you’d be covered.
I won’t bore you with the details, but for me, it’s because I grew up in Jennings, just south of Ferguson, and still live in the area. I also have family and friends who live and work in Ferguson. We are very concerned about what’s going to happen when the grand jury announces its decision.
I had a friend who grew up in dellwood and I visited him on jennings station road in 1985 :)
Follow the money is always a good idea... Where's the Washington Post on this story?
LOL - this idiot thinks it's 2008 and all of us are suffering from 'white guilt'. Someone needs to take a serious look at a calendar..
Why do we care. We care because the cultural revolution has started and it is being televised. Only, the revolution is not working out for the black liberals and their socialist sympathizers as well as they planned. No matter how hard they try, they cannot achieve their goals of justice, equality, respect, and rule over the white majority.
They have sought exception and advantage in the name of racism and heritage. That has not worked.
They have sought to change the law of the land for social gain and political advantage. That has not worked.
They have resorted to peaceful protest and marching in the streets for justice. That has not worked.
They have rioted and looted in the name of reparation and equality. That has not worked.
They are becoming more restless. Will anarchy, violence, and martial law be next or will common sense prevail? Or will their self-destruction continue to divide or unite America.
Yes, the revolution is being televised and the majority are watching and waiting. It like a poker game. There’s a time to hold’em and a time to fold’em. Who’s holding the best hand and who’s bluffing? It’s getting close to time to make your final bets and show your cards.
In the meantime I’m getting sick and tired of watching the revolution.
I have a question.
Are you saying it should be perfectallybthe acceptable for everyone to violently assalt police officers? Or it should only be o k for black people to do so?
My fear is that we'll never fight back; that we've lost the courage and patriotism and spit and fire of our ancestors. Whites have been so brainwashed, and are so busy going to work, then unwinding by watching the game or the reality show or whatever, it's like they're turning a blind eye to what's going on...other than an occasional email forward or gripe on Facebook. I do see more whites waking up, but is it too late? At this point, I feel like we're begging for the right to live in a corner of the basement in what used to be our house.
This letter to the editor illustrates your point very well:
At a time when the entire community is tense while awaiting the grand jury decision, you would think that a responsible media would be doing its part to calm the situation. Instead the Post-Dispatch chooses to go with an obviously inflammatory headline (”Who counts how many people the police kill? Nobody,” Nov. 9).
The management staff that allows or promotes this type of journalism should be ashamed of themselves. The community would be better served if the Post-Dispatch closed its doors. Trying to inflame an already dangerous situation borders on criminal behavior.

I have a question: What the hell are you talking about?
Because my son lives in Clayton and I am very concerned for his safety?
michael and denise are such useless goobers. Normal people of all races have had it with this community-organizing & community whining & community-rioting BS. Lock & Load is the answer...apparently, the only answer these ferals & communist agitators understand. It isn’t a “race” thing. It is a culture thing. Most people have had it with thug-life, thug-attacks and thugs, in general. Get a job and shut up. No one cares about your purported BS problems...no one.

I have had it with the situation as well. I was responding to the poster that asked why anyone cared or followed the situation. I have a son that lives nearby and am concerned for his safety, therefore I am following the situation closely.
