Abandon democracy, supporter tells Putin

A man accused of travelling to Ukraine to recruit support for pro-Russian rebels has led a G20 rally calling for the end of democracy in Russia.

About 30 Australian Cossacks, surrounded by almost as many police, marched through Brisbane's South Bank on Saturday, declaring their support for their "steel ruler", Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The group's leader, Simeon Boikov, reportedly travelled to the Ukraine this year in support of pro-Russian rebels and bragged on his Facebook page about entering the war zone.

Mr Boikov denied the media reports and said he was seeking defamation action.

"They've blamed everybody on the face of the earth except the Ukrainians for the (MH17) plane crash," Mr Boikov told AAP.

"They've blamed the rebels, they've blamed Russian jets ... Putin, and now they're blaming citizens in Australia."

Mr Boikov, who addressed his supporters in Russian, wasn't afraid to share his extreme views to media afterwards.

"We just need a steel ruler and we encourage Putin," he said.

"We don't need Russian democracy - this was an American flag that was brought in to bring pornography, drugs and immorality to the people under the guise of freedom. We want Russia to become an empire."

Mr Boikov also mocked every other world leader, including Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

"You know what they compare it to? A fly annoying a bull and the bull just waves his tail and the fly goes away," he said.

"You can guess who's the fly and who is the bull."

Several protesters at the rally were searched by police, with one also being questioned and told to remove a cloth covering his face.

Police were also on hand to keep the group separated from another, more moderate pro-Russia gathering organised by RUstralia.

Organiser Vladimir Dashkoff said his larger rally was to celebrate Russian culture, and emphasised that not all Russians shared Mr Boikov's views.

"They are not with us, we have made that quite clear," Mr Dashkoff said.

"There are a number of centre, left and right elements in every society - this is their opinion. They have quite a harsh view."

Mr Dashkoff said some Russians in Australia had been discriminated against based on how the media has reported on the Kremlin, including its handling of the MH17 plane crash investigation.

“We just need a steel ruler” …
You could just buy one, and not encourage Putin to become a de jure despotic autocrat who you’re going to hate later on.

Abandon democracy...

We should, as well. However, in our case, we should go back to being a Constitutional Republic. It worked well, it did.

Democratization has been a disaster!

I wonder why does he stay in Australia in this case? North Korea might be a fitting place.

“Democracy” will bring results only as good as the people. It worked pretty well in a country that was gospel based.

There could be a point. Russia might do better under a stern autocrat, if they refuse God.

I think we are disagree here. People tends to grow up given proper environment.

Yes we do.

There’s this bothersome thing called choice. Unlike what liberals think, people can muff choice despite the best environment.

Matters of faith got quite open in Russia for a while. But people were slow to take advantage of it. Few Christians — many superstitions. The judgment is arriving at their doorstep, as it is snapping at our own heels — we do still have a powerful Christian presence so we might have a chance yet, but still people have to CHOOSE.

The only good kind of autocracy is one which is ruled by a good noble leader. Putin does not qualify.

And anyhow it is at least nominal Christian — it could be worse. Would it were, however, that Putin would take to heart the message of the Savior who sacrificed Himself on the cross he likes to sport.

~Few Christians —many superstitions.~

Where did you take it from? What superstitions?

I honestly believe that economy and liberty are correlated.

As far as the majority of population is capable to obtain more than daily necessities out of hard work and enterprise they start to value freedom.

Poor people, preoccupied with fight for the very survival doesn’t need it.

Who need guaranties for right to property if one has none?
Who wants representation if one has nothing to eat? He would better sell his vote for burger.

It is a primary reason why a neocon ‘export of democracy’ to the Third world was a blunder.

You need a valid philosophy to undergird the liberty.

Flashing a cross around doesn’t make someone a Christian any more than sitting in a garage makes someone a car.

If it is appreciated how God desires to act, then we get a foundation for the liberty. There isn’t any true liberty without God. There is only license and it will swiftly be abused.

You are spot on, but poor hungry people aren’t interested to find God too.
