The hits just keep on rolling in. After the previously unknown investment advisor Rich Weinstein established that there was a literal trove of videos featuring Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber speaking candidly and in strikingly impolitic ways about the health care reform law and the American public he helped deceive, the mainstream press is now getting in on the act.
The sixth installment in the series of videos featuring Gruber crucifying himself was uncovered by CNNs Jake Tapper:
The issue at hand in this sixth video is known as the Cadillac tax, which was represented as a tax on employers expensive health insurance plans. While employers do not currently have to pay taxes on health insurance plans they provide employees, starting in 2018, companies that provide health insurance that costs more than $10,200 for an individual or $27,500 for a family will have to pay a 40 percent tax.
Much like the videos uncovered by Weinstein, Tapper discovered the sixth video also hiding in plain sight posted on the Pioneer Institutes public policy research website. The relevant remarks begin at the 30:38 mark:
In those 2011 remarks, Gruber said that, despite the fact that most members of his profession agree employer-based health insurance tax breaks were bad policy, it turns out politically its really hard to get rid of.
He said the Affordable Care Act helped to do away with this system in two ways. The first, by mislabeling it, calling it a tax on insurance plans rather than a tax on people when we all know its a tax on people who hold those insurance plans. And secondly, by delaying the implementation of this tax until 2018. But by starting it late, we were able to tie the cap for Cadillac Tax to CPI, not medical inflation, Gruber said.

The first rule of being a con artist is to skip town without anyone ever realizing that you were indeed, a con artist. The guy is so pleased with his con job, that he can’t help blabbing about it.
I’d like to see how long his smarmy *** would last with a bunch of “stupid” prisoners...
Jake Tapper...the ambulance chaser that gets there too late.
It makes me nervous that so many of these videos are coming from CNN. A distraction of something else about to happen, like amnesty?
Strange, these tapes were not circulated before. Somehow, I have a feeling that tapes of Mr. Gruber bragging about deceiving and insulting the public are leading up to something even worse. We are being fed these stories like breadcrumbs, or like those beheading videos from ISIS that began airing last summer and have ‘suddenly stopped’ airing.
Now that this clown’s comments and videos are appearing everywhere he will suffer a horrible fate. He will be ignored and ostracized by his fellow liberals. To be ignored by his own kind is a fate that is worse for Gruber than anything the GOP could do to him.

Voters got to know Jonathan Gruber in 2012 when the Obama campaign put the health care policy wonk forward to shut down ObamaCare attacks from Republican nominee Mitt Romney. President Obama was so eager to play up Grubers role as a chief architect of ObamaCare because Gruber had been a chief architect of Romneys state-level health law. Elevating Gruber allowed the campaign to deliver his lines with greater crack: The core of the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare and what we did in Massachusetts are identical," says Gruber in one campaign ad. While Gruber may have helped neuter Romneys ObamaCare attacks, he may end up helping to neuter the law itself thanks to a video unearthed by free-market think tank the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
Gruber, an MIT professor who has become a Democratic health care talking head, also gets paid for talking to industry groups about ObamaCare. In one 2012 speech, Gruber talked about the provision in the law that has state governments administer enrollments, including subsidies. I think whats important to remember politically about this is if youre a state and you dont set up an exchange, that means your citizens dont get their tax credits, said Gruber, a MIT professor, in a speech two years ago. Why is that problematic? Because it directly contradicts what the administration argued in court about a lawsuit that could be devastating to ObamaCare because it would end the subsidies paid to enrollees in the states that did not voluntarily comply.
The preferred talking point for pro-administration groups has been to dismiss the subsidy gap as a clerical error, not an intentional policy. It goes like this: Congress meant to provide a way to work around non-compliant states, but didnt get the wording right. It was, in the words of one administration insider deployed to knock down the court decision, a typo. And who was that insider? You guessed it: Jonathan Gruber. This matters not because it is an embarrassing deception for an academic to be caught in, but because it suggests the falsity of the administrations claim that this was a glitch and not a feature. The administration was eager to highlight Grubers role in order to shame Romney, making it hard now to suggest that he was some peripheral figure. Whether this matters in the expected Supreme Court decision is a matter for the legal eagles to consider, but from a messaging point of view this is a Krakatoa-sized eruption.
The plan pretty plainly was to do on subsidies what the administration has tried to do on Medicaid expansion: pressure governors who do not comply and create talking points for Democratic candidates. Its just that so many states refused to set up their own ObamaCare shops, including those with supportive governors. The rest of the actual glitches in the law and technology made even some liberal governors opt out and kick the can back to Washington. If the White House cant argue publicly that this is some silly technicality it goes straight to the heart of the main problem with ObamaCare and voters: they dont think it works.
I must have missed #5.
“The guy is so pleased with his con job, that he cant help blabbing about it.”
I think you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what he is doing.
You’re correct and this asshat better quit blabbing. It may be too late for him. He may find himself disappeared. It is wonderful to see the destruction from within.
The Lear Jet Leftists expect to form the core of the global Green Inner Party. They will continue to enjoy the finest foods and most advanced gadgets the world has to offer — while deciding your fate for you.
If you work very hard and show them your unwavering loyalty you may be permitted to join the global Green Outer Party. You will be allowed occasional servings of meat - and air conditioning on a rationed basis.
The rest of us will eat insects and swelter for the good of the planet.
Liberals don’t disagree with what Gruber is saying. They’re mad because the fool was stupid enough to say it in public. This weasel looks like someone who would be bragging about his accomplishments to everyone so expect a tidal wave of Gruber videos.
In their wet dreams!
Professor Goober strikes again!......

I find it interesting that Ted Turner just recently pulled the rights to Dish TV to air CNN. CNN has been removed from Dish TV indefinitely.
If you have Dish TV, call them and complain and they will give you a $5.00 per month reduction on your bill. I did it yesterday.
Late or not, he beat NBC, ABC, and CBS. When might they get around to “discovering” this story?
