Arrogance plus deception equals Obamacare. Ask Gruber.

Words to live by:

Thou shalt not lie. Especially when thou mess with one-sixth of the U.S. economy. And when thou art assuring Americans that thy bill won't kill their health insurance policies. Because when thou gets snared in thy intentional deceptions, there's hell to pay.

These are not, though, words by which the Obama administration, Democrats in Congress and their allies sold the Affordable Care Act. We know because MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, a key architect of the act, repeatedly gloated — in video-recorded appearances — that the sponsors lied.

Apologists surely will dream up more sophisticated excuses. But after the blithe yammer we're left with the admission of National Journal's Ron Fournier, an ardent backer of the ACA: "And so even I have to admit, as a supporter, that Obamacare was built and sold on a foundation of lies." He says that in today's political discourse there are two types of lies: "Those that hurt 'my party' and 'my policies'; and those that don't. We condemn the former and forgive the latter ...."

Even in Gruber's come-cleanery, there's one more lie. The people who deceived you about Obamacare didn't do so because you're stupid. They did so because they thought voters are smart, and would reject them and their schemes if they didn't spin their many deceptions.

We had a decisive national election last week. Maybe Americans proved how stupid, or how smart, they truly are.

Arrogance plus deception equals Obamacare. Ask Gruber.

A lot of people are outraged that Gruber called the American people "stupid", but if you pause and examine it, he is absolutely correct and most at the forum should agree.

0bama and his minions surveyed the stupidity of his followers and surmised that they could get away with foisting 0bamacare on America, implementing an imperial presidency where 0bama reigns as king, and destroying the Country, all because the vast majority is basically stupid and wallow in their ignorance. So far, he is 100% correct.

Those that take offense, do so because the dems play upon the obvious and resent being called what they are - STUPID.

That issue about how democrats hide taxes on people by taxing businesses they buy things from by playing on their economic illiteracy is one that applies widely.

You’ve got to wonder, how many of these “objective scientists” pushing the global warming agenda are actually “Grubers”? I imagine most of them.

The truth is that the Dems lied to get the existing U.S. healthcare system destroyed. They knew the private insurance companies would be forced out of the market and the end result would be a government run single payer system. Barney Frank let that cat out of the bag in an interview in the halls of Congress. He said Obamacare was simply a first stage on the road to a single payer system.

What many people who would like to repeal Obamacare don’t realize is that the old system and their old policies are irrevocably gone. Businesses have canceled group coverages and insurance companies no longer have those old policies available, having cancelled the coverages for millions of policyholders because they didn’t meet the standards that “experts” like Mr. Gruber thought were necessary. Once you throw the baby out with the bathwater, the bathwater itself is gone forever.

What now? We will have a European style health system with managed care, long waits for treatment, and yes, panels that will decide if you really deserve that heart implant. Democrats really believe that the ends justify the means and that the public will come to love nationalized healthcare.

It’s a big gamble because if the public doesn’t like the service, price or deductibles they may turn on the Democrats with a fury that will further isolate the party into a permanent minority party.

Good commentary but I have confidence in American industry. The prior system can be rebuilt, even improved, if the GOP can build the political will to stand up to tyranny.

Voters don’t like Obama or Obamacare. If conservatives cannot win the argument with the American people behind them, our republic is lost.
