A little while back I spent several months researching the Common Core curriculum, and what I discovered absolutely shocked me. At times, it left me utterly incredulous. I wrote a two-part article on the subject. I still have part three (final installment) in progress. And I will be wrapping up that series of articles here in the near future. But the deeper I dig into Common Core, the more it has led me on numerous research paths, some of which interlock with what I thought were unrelated research paths. I still haven’t absorbed or synthesized it all.
One of the things repeated over and over again in Common Core literature is the concept of “global citizenship.” Although it may sound innocuous to some, the concept of “global citizenship” requires wiping away the concept of patriotism–allegiance to one’s own country of origin.
What I find particularly insidious about Common Core is the emphasis on attempting to change values, beliefs, feelings and behaviors, instead of knowledge, understanding and comprehension as the primary focus for teaching and learning. But, as far as the creators and active promoters of Common Core standards are concerned, the attempt to change values, beliefs, feelings and behaviors is seen as a necessity in order to reverse allegiance to one’s own nation (eliminate national sovereignty), and instead embrace the Marxian socialist concept of being a good “citizen of the world.”
Common Core is not just about national standards for education in the United States. The Common Core initiative is about importing international standards into numerous nations. The purpose is to inculcate young minds to accept collectivism globally—wipe out patriotism … wipe out the very notion of “national sovereignty.” Apparently we all exist for the benefit of a political class now—away with the individual … sweep away knowledge and independent thought based in logic and reason.
There are many big-time global players pushing Common Core standards. Not too long ago, I learned a major sponsor for worldwide terrorism, Qatar, is connected with Common Core. So, once again, I’m reminded of author M. Stanton Evans’ “Law of Inadequate Paranoia,” which states, “No matter how bad you think something is, when you look into it, it is always worse.”
For example, the BBC is reporting Qatar wants to build schools … everywhere in the world—Sharia education for all!

The senior member of the Qatari royal family and education campaigner wants to galvanise the international community to provide education for 58 million children around the world without access to school.
World leaders made a millennium pledge this would be reached by 2015 – but this deadline is almost certain to be missed.
The target is likely to slip back to 2030. But Sheikha Moza, married to the former ruler, and mother of the current ruler of the wealthy Gulf state, says it could be reached in half that time.
It might be a case of royals not wanting to be kept waiting, but she calls for a much greater sense of urgency.
“It can be achieved. But we really need people to commit themselves. We need politicians to understand the power of education for their own countries, for their economies. It should not be seen as a luxury. It is essential.”
A few weeks ago Terresa Monroe-Hamilton and William Michael wrote about the cozy relationship between Qatar and former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, and their connection to Common Core:

It looks like traditionally Christian educational missions have new competition. Maybe we should WANT said competition to use Common Core if it is so hideous, that way they fail? It sounds more like a way to make the Islamic school initiative look more attractive.
It is great that you are homeschooling. But this administration will not let that continue - at some point they will stop it.
Continue as long as you can. But also inform others, make others aware as much as you can.

A truly Christian education mission would include Christian principles, but also it would celebrate individualism and patriotism, not collectivism.
Perhaps it would be better to explain this educational theory as a push for global world education. Students will be citizens of the world.
They would also like one world religion - Christianity and Islam to combine to be Chrislam (which is what Rick Warren teaches).
Common core will succeed as long as they benchmark the tests according to the inferior curriculum. In other words, if you teach someone to make pancakes to burn them and the test shows that if you burn them you are successful, what do you have?
Everyone will make burned pancakes! That isn’t success really, but they have only met the requirements that were asked of them.
The Islamic influence will come through the technology that is used (ipads to skype with Arab students) along with teaching the pillars of Islam.
I’m not sure about “genuine Christianity” celebrating idolatry.
The people’s spiritual strength or weakness is quite up to their personal choices.
If they go off on rabbit trails demon-hunting, they will run themselves into the ground.
If they seek God as best as they know, they will conquer in His name.
Idolatry wasn’t mentioned - individualism was mentioned along with patriotism.
Both of which are idolatries... that is how a great Christian nation got into navel gazing

My response was to draw a comparison, not to teach a principle of Christianity. The idea was NOT to teach collectivism.

Unfortunately, even homeschoolers will be affected by this cr-p. State testing standards language and SAT tests are (or have already) been tweaked to accommodate Common Core terminology in math and science - even college professors are being told to adjust the same in their courses.
So, when your homeschooler takes those tests in your given state to advance from one grade to the next, or if they want to take the SAT for college, they will have to know the terminology and language of Common Core to understand what they are asking. And, believe me, Commom Core terminology is purposely confusing in math and science. This stuff needs to be destroyed, burnt up, ground into powder and flushed down the toilet.

What it does include ….. is the Shahada and the Five Pillars of Islam. The Shahada is an Islamic creed declaring belief in the oneness of God and the acceptance of Muhammad as God’s prophet. It is recited to convert someone to Islam. That’s right… they are actively converting your children to their religion.

“Back in 2002 the US Department of Education, with help from Bill Gates (Microsoft Corp), Steve Jobs (Apple), AOL Time Warner, Dell Computer, Cable in the Classrooms, Cisco Systems and the National Education set up an organization called: Partnership for 21st Century Skills or P21.org for short. I originally found p21.org from a link on the TeachUNICEF website… Yep, UNICEF is still part of the United Nations. The link was titled: Have you seen the Partnership for 21st Century Skills’ new report on Global Education? Among other things I found on the site were articles titled “A Framework For State Action on Global Education and P21 has embarked on a year long project to redefine and reimagine 21st century citizenship.
So we have what appears to be a Non Government Organization, set up by some huge corporations and the US Department of Education to promote something that sounds a whole lot like Common Core on a Global Scale.

The bad news, according to Milgram, is that, returning to his experience in California in the ‘90s, if students had been in that system with the older, poor standards for three or four years, “the damage couldn’t be undone,” he said.
Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson are two of my favorite poets, and it seems for each their classical educations were adequate to their tasks. Would that students were so well educated today.
As if some other ism is less idolic?
The American way of doing idols isn’t necessarily better than the Russian way, etc.
Slow or fast the end result will be the same if they are not stopped. Thanks for the tidy package. It will be used.
