I’ll never forget that. It was the first day in his career that he EVER MISSED a House vote. And there were many that day. He had prided himself on his stellar attendance. I think it was a week or so after her disappearance because it didn’t make news at first but once the congressman was connected... Boom!
His flight attendant friend had landed and was in her hotel, and figured she’d be hooking up with him later, when she saw on the news his picture in connection with the girl’s disappearance. She freaked because she had seen Chandra’s unmistakable long dark curly hair in his apartment, and called his secret cell and left a message worried that he was involved. This was the one message he HAD to answer or maybe she would go to authorities.
So he found a lone McDonalds there in the backwoods of VA to place the call to her (which was later traced in phone records). She said that he was completely charming on the phone and convinced her he had nothing to do with it, but that he couldn’t see her that night... Was he paying off his hired help, or having a body moved or what, way out there in the middle of nowhere?
So many answers. We’ve been so very patient.
