Full title: Harvard students sit the 1964 Louisiana Literacy Test that black voters had to pass before being allowed to go to the polls - and every single person FAILED

College: An expensive institution designed to eliminate common sense from those who attend.

Now THAT was truly “voter suppression” and was orchestrated by DEMOCRATS, of course.

Assuming they are all US Citizens, I wonder what percentage of the Harvard students could figure out how to fill out the forms necessary to get a photo ID, or find someone to help them fill them out? I’m guessing 100%. Same goes for high school or elementary school dropouts.

I guess all the students were black?

I also guess that nobody could vote in 1964?

1964 Lousiana Governmant:

Governor = Democrat
Lt. Governoer = Democrat
US Senators = Both democrats
US House delegates = 8 Democrats (no republicans)
Loisiana State Senate = 100% democrat (no republicans)

Don’t let anyone tell you that the dixiecrats are more like republicans. In 1964, the GOP ran conservative Barry Goldwater as their candidate and all the dixiecrats sided with liberal LBJ.

It was a bad test. There was an invalid statement and one wrong answer would flunk the test taker. The question is what is gained by bringing up something from 50 years ago which was discredited at that time and which became illegal the next year?

It was oddly written, kinda tested literacy, and had nothing to do with voting, but it wasn’t terribly difficult. Guess I can get a Harvard diploma shipped to me now, right?

So I’m assuming that a thank you to the Republican Party for making this illegal in 1965 was part of the lesson plan?!

It’s not that difficult if interpreted fairly but of course as the Mail points out that is the whole point. The questions (some) are ambiguous and thus open to biased interpretation. #20 is a perfect example. Is that asking to spell “forwards” backwards or “backwards” forwards?

Also there are clearly some questions that any student with a 12th grade education should be able to answer (or do) no one with just a 5th grade education (probably learned 10-20 years ago) could answer. #28 is a perfect example. Unless a typical 5th grader knows what “bisection” means.

The point is, the test was outrageous, and was solely designed to prevent people who wanted to vote from voting. I assume white voters weren’t required to take the test.

Translation: to “sit” a test means to take a test.

So they are a little weak on reading comprehension. Let’s see their scores on the Los Angeles Math Test.

I think the emphasis in this article is wrong. What happened to the intelligence of the Ivy League? That’s a better question.

Not sure who dragged this up, but its brilliant. Demonstrates which party is full of racists, and more than that, it demonstrates (once again) that democrats are not above politicizing education to achieve power over a group of people.
