Bet the school would change it's mind if the Christian students skipped the rest of the week. Oooh, all those government dollars based on attendance would fritter away. Of course, this is nothing but the result of lazy parents. Parents rule the schools and it's time they stepped up to that role. You don't like school policy? Make your voice heard at PTO and school board meetings. Still don't like the policies? Run for school board. Send letters to the editor of the local paper. Organize a few like minded parents on a calling list to make calls to the principal, the superintendent and individual board members. FYI, it usually only takes a call from 3 people to stop the insanity. Have the area churches preach to that subject next Sunday and put it in their newsletters. Stage a candlelight vigil or other peaceful protest so the local news airs your grievances.
About twice a year when our kids were in school, I changed policy. 90% took all of 5 minutes on the phone.
If parents rule the schools, these teachers don’t seem to think so, even going so far as to declare themselves “the state” here.
