House GOP Split on How to Stop Obama Executive Amnesty
The Weekly Standard ^ | November 10, 2014 | BY MICHAEL WARREN

Rep. Matt Salmon of Arizona is pushing his Republican colleagues to try to block the president from using executive action on immigration, but his plan is likely to hit strong resistance from House leaders.

The federal government is currently funded through a continuing resolution that runs out at midnight on December 11. Salmon, echoing similar calls from Republican senators Jeff Sessions of Alabama and Mike Lee of Utah, proposes that Congress pass a bill that would fund the government until early next year. If the president moves ahead with his executive amnesty, the expiring continuing resolution would give Republicans an opportunity to block funding for the president's action after both houses of Congress are under Republicans’ control.

But that plan has a tough road ahead. Republican leadership in the House is eager to pass a spending bill through the 2015 fiscal year before the start of the new Congress.

This is what you get when we elect those cowards. Half of them are dumb and the other half are dumber.

Hint, it's got nothing to do with them being cowards, being deaf, stupid etc...

Oh, they're definitely cowards, whatever else their motives might be. They don't believe in amnesty for illegal aliens; they just want to get rid of the issue.

When Boner put on his absurd "it's too hard" act insulting the Tea Part types or whoever, he was just projecting. What he really meant was, "It's too hard" to fight these Dems and all the groups about amnesty almost every year. They'd rather just cave in and get rid of the issue because it's too hard on them

Where is the outcry to recall Boehner? That would help more than dealing with Barry right now. What is wrong with these limp-wristed pansies?

Boehner and Mconnell came out and “warned the prez” about executive order on immigration-— something about having his fingers “burned”.

And then.. right after that... obamaumao minions leaked the fact that Boehner (and probably McConnell) have been talking with the prez to organize amnesty.... What a timely leak, that weakens them in the true conservatives eyes, as it should.

For them now to come out and particularly Boehner, with his “lame duck” repub controlled House and propose a CR that is not voted on by the new elected House, but is instead foisted on them by the old one (and don’t forget Boehner has to be re-elected as speaker by the caucus— which might not happen) is simply outrageous. Just as outrageous as a lame duck Senate approving the replacement Attorney General- for obamaomao and getting Holder off the hook so to speak- something that has not happened since before the Civil War.

None of this would be happening if John Boehner were alive...

Love the border fence idea. We can market it as a “shovel ready” project that will create jobs in the still to recover construction section.

I appreciate you telling your senator about the idea. Let's hope that it gets some legs and is actually presented to congress.

And yes...thank you Fightin Whitey.

Love it. Clear, concise, with no wiggle-room. The way laws ought to be written.

Thank you very much; I have several other proposals for amendments over here with the PDF working copy (w/ justification-reasoning) here.
