Communist takeover of 1968 comes to mind.
The DEMOCRAT party, Dan, because there’s nothing democratic about it.
Yes.
And we must also do another important thing, impeach Leftist judges.
See my new tagline.
There’s nothing really boggling about it. Bush was an unpopular president, it’s very rare for one party to hold the White House for 3 terms, and Bush was the classic example of why. There was no way any GOP candidate was getting out of his shadow, so the dems were guaranteed the win in 08. For 12 you have to remember that America by and large like incumbents and usually gives presidents 2 terms, add to that a weak GOP field that eventually resulted in a nominee that nobody really liked and whose legislative record basically made it impossible for him to excite the base and it was another guaranteed win.
Meanwhile of course during midterms America generally hates the party of the sitting president. We forget that because 2 in a row (Clinton’s 2nd Bush’s 1st) the party gained, largely thanks to grossly misplayed hands by the opposition. Those were exceptions though, the rule is moderate losses for the 1st midterm and massive losses for the 2nd. It’s important to keep these trends in mind for the future, while we like to pat ourselves on the back and talk about how the dems are toast the reality is that 4 years from now it’s almost certainly going to be the GOP taking the beating, and again 4 years after that. It’s all actually very predictable, but we like to forget that this has a very set pattern.
They haven’t been in a similar position since the 1920s. They ran congress from 1948 to 1994.
The problem is the “Democrats” of today are really Bolsheviks.
By the way, had I mentioned that Maine....
So was the FDR bunch.
