The article serves as a sad revelation to those of us still willing to consider Paul Ryan. All signals point that not only is he not planning to run, he does not really want to, and would much prefer being head of Ways and Means. Better he’s honest with himself and us right now, vs declaring the start of a Presidential campaign and showing only weak, watered-down interest or enthusiasm.
Not that I can blame him. If the majority of voters were so easily decieved or distracted by Crazy Uncle Joe’s wild debate antics, then, why spend too much time dumbing oneself down to fit their small world view. Paul is best off on the Ways and Means committee. I didn’t know that his dad and his grandad both died by 55. Heart trouble, I think.
Historically speaking, Chairman of House Ways and Means is one of the most powerful positions in Washington, maybe second only to the presidency itself.
