You are right about the transition from meth to heroin, even in rural America where it's easier to make meth. We've seen that in our own local law enforcement work, in an area that until a few years ago was one of the meth capitals of America.
As for where the heroin is coming from, think poppy fields in Afghanistan. Connect the dots. That may be a false connection, but it's worth considering.
