I apologies. My white privilege caused me to lapse into heteronormitive gendertypes based on the disproportionate overrepresentations of specific chromosonally ordered pairs on the internet ;)

WAit. Lemmie try that again

I apologies. My white privilege caused me to lapse into heteronormitive gendertypes based on the disproportionate overrepresentations of specific chromosonally ordered pairs on the internet AND UNJUSTLY OPPRESS YOU due to my inherent bias toward the war on women.

There. I am not PC with the world...I think...

‘S’ok. My rabid right wing views make me the target of women who ask “how can you VOTE for, ewwww, Republicans?”.

So, I am one of the minority, here. I didn’t get a catchy, girlie name when I signed up, so most Freepers take me as one of the guys. I wear that as a badge of honor.

Before that iphone will do ANYTHING over USB, you'd have to know the users passcode. Otherwise, ZIP.

If you have physical access to the device for a considerable period of time, Find My iPhone is not turned on, and it's not iCloud locked, couldn't you force it into DFU mode and jailbreak? Admittedly, that's a fairly long list of ifs, and I generally assume that physical access means total access given enough time.

I might have to try that with my 4S, because I just found out that there's an iOS 8.1 untethered jailbreak. I've been holding off on upgrading until that happened.

True believer Mac fans scare me.

You must be a very timid soul. . . and easily scared. Sad to be you. . . and especially sad to have to admit that. There are phobia self-help groups, you know. You are suffering from MAPS.

Swordmaker's and Kathy's proposed diagnosis for the new ICD-10 addenda:

90210 iOS Munchausen's Apple-Plexy Syndrome (MAPS), The overwhelming compulsion to post negative, judgmental, aggressive, and false commentary on any website thread related to Apple products wherever found, including phobic reaction to projected Apple user euphoria. First and subsequent encounters.

*Once*, I went to Sunset Electronics in PA to look at the iMacs [which crashed every time I touched them] and the salesman was livid when I decided Apple just wasn’t my thing.

I maintain networks of Macs. . . dozens of iMacs, Mac Minis, Mac Pros, MacBook Pros, Macbook Airs, and in over 12 years, I think that I have seen exactly THREE (3) crashes, in all those Macs.

My personal Mac has been running 24/7 for the past seven years and except for updates, has NEVER been shut down. . . and never crashed. So, I think I will call that an outright lie. Sorry. Nice try, but no banana. Simply more FUD from someone who is totally ignorant of OS X Macs.

Picture a $2000 PC that can run near photorealistic video games at 60 frames per second (smooth as silk...no glitching) for weeks on end if needed.

Picture at minimum a $6000 computer that cannot with a monitor the game cannot even approach the capabilities of using and a fraction of the power needed to drive it anyway.

Picture trying to decide which makes for a more logical choice.

Why the 6K Mac of course! And “I” am insane...;)

I am trying to picture this mythical $6,000 Mac. . . What model? What did you want to put in it? When? Certainly you can configure a Mac Pro to that cost, but it would be a WORKSTATION level machine, far beyond a gaming machine. So WHAT IN HELL are you talking about?

The thread where you made your claim was one where we were talking about MOBILE DEVICE gaming and you invaded it talking about your wonderful $2000 PCs abilities. Right, sure. And now you are throwing the statement I made about playing your HD games on a picnic as though you did not know the context back at us, or as though the context of the thread did not matter. IDIOT.

Look up if you are interested the costs that the music industry incurs each year when Apple releases new gear/operating systems that invalidates the prior year’s investment. It is just one factor in the overall picture.

More falsehoods. Exactly WHAT investment is invalidated by Apple's upgrades each year? Please tell us. You make this stuff up as you post, don't you? There literally ARE NO CHANGES that effect those investments, you idiot. None, ZIP, Nada! The Music Industry goes on its way without being affected by a change in Apple's operating systems. . . except they may sell more music.

Why do you post these obviously insane claims????

MR PR department, read the thread, It was all explained over several posts. I dont care what you think. I see it happen daily. I speak with other engineers and studio people. And anyone that wants to follow up on the info I provided will find a wealth of supporting info from the studio people themselves. Now have a nice day because I have better things to do than argue with fanbois.

Crapple’s iPhone never had a perfect record. It’s been compromised at every Black Hat since its creation. Only the iSheep think it’s a well designed device.

Not with an exploit that was usable in the wild. The hackers who attacked the iPhones did so because they wanted to win the iPhone. Not one of their attacks were usable in the wild because they required loading an app that would NEVER be allowed in Apple's App Store. . .

The two so-called "malware" invasions of the iPhone actually were not. They were apps that had hidden functions that slipped past the curation of the Apple curators. One in 2012 was a popular Camera App from Germany. . . that had a back-door that allowed users to use a hidden feature in the app to Tether WIFI devices to their iPhones in contravention of the Contracts Apple had with carriers that prohibited such tethering. NOT malware, by definition, but a "trojan" by definition. That feature could have imperiled Apple's contracts with the carriers. Apple pulled the App. The App makers shot themselves in the foot because they had been making $900,000 a MONTH in sales with the app. . . but tried something sneaky and got caught. In fact Apple pulled ALL of their apps for that stunt.

The 2010 one was a "proof-of-concept" attempt to sneak extra functions not advertised in what the developer told Apple the App was supposed to do. . . they also got caught, and had their App pulled, and they were banned from development.

Security is not just about vulnerabilities, it is also about whether those vulnerabilities are usable or not in the wild. Every other phone attacked at the black hat conferences were also compromised. The fact still remains that 97% of all malware IN THE WILD exists in the Android OS, the rest is for RIMM, Nokia Symbian, and Windows Phone. There are a few malware for JAILBROKEN iPhones. . . but those are outside the protections built to defend iOS.

As a device, it is well designed, as an Operating System, it is extremely well designed, and for security, even the government is pissed about not being able to get in.

Now Apple is soldering ram to their motherboards. Again, no choice. Nect, the Powermac is eliminated. The coffer warmer has cost many people thousands of dollaes to keep their connected and required external hardware useable. If you are happy with it, go with it. But the whole point is that lots of people aren’t and that upsets the Apple fringe to ludicrus degrees. It’s Stalinist.

PowerMac???? PowerMac? POWERMAC???? What time warp do you occupy, Norm? The PowerMac was discontinued in 2006, almost NINE YEARS AGO! Sheesh! YOU ARE DELUSIONAL! You are living in a reality distortion bubble of your own making.

The coffer warmer has cost many people thousands of dollaes to keep their connected and required external hardware useable.

What? What in the hell are you blithering about? Coffer warmer? You're foaming at the mouth with blather.

My business is to KEEP computers working and connected and i make one hell of a lot more money from keeping WINDOWS machines working and connected than I ever have made on keeping Mac machines working and connected on a per machine basis. Macs are far less expensive to keep working than are Windows Machines.

The truth is that the vast majority of people who have switched from Windows to Macs are euphoric about switching. They could not be happier to get rid of Windows hell.

I’m sure the person that lost his system is real upset about that. I think he’s a bit more miffed that he bought into something that was a myth.

No one has lost their system. It has not happened. This is all hypothetical. They are talking about stealing DATA, not losing systems. Quit hyperventilating, Norm.

The myth that Apple is secure. Because nothing is secure. And this proved it.

Nothing is "proved" when it says "If the do this, and then do that, then this will happen. . . and then that will happen. . . but first you gotta go here and do this stupid thing and that stupid thing, which nobody does." . . . based on things that are not being done for years. This is FUD based on a wet dream written by an Android marketing team. There are just too many red flags of OLD no-longer-used technology, rube-goldbergesque requirements for it to do anything, and idiotic means to gain information that is already on the device they would use to invade the iPhone! It simply makes no sense.

Well screw you very much.

If I say something happened, bet your ass it happened.

TS if that warps your personal paradigm.

*I* find it literally “incredible” that your machine has run for 7 years.

So there.
