That's a good point. The Sarvis vote wouldn't all break for Gillespie. Maybe Warner would've gotten more of it than Gillespie, and thus Warner would have won outright, if there had been no third-party candidate.

OTOH, the Sarvis vote might have split the other way and put Gillespie over the top. That's why I think you need the 50% runoff rule, like in Georgia and Louisiana.
