Kenneth Tate toiled for years as a construction worker and corrections officer, and he has no doubt that his last job working as a $42,000-a-year private security guard at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was the best he ever had.
The high point was an afternoon seven weeks ago when he was assigned to accompany President Obama, who was visiting the agencys headquarters here for a briefing on the Ebola epidemic. It was not only that Mr. Tates bosses had entrusted him with staying close to such an important dignitary. It was that, as an African-American born in Chicago, he was going to meet the nations first black president, a man he deeply admired.
But by the time Mr. Obamas visit was over, Mr. Tate was on the way to losing his job.

They already have a guy from the press that does that job. His name- Jake Tapper.

One thing I found out in my past adventures. You do NOT cross people who are in government. The manure WILL devolve on you, if you do. Little Napoleons do not want to risk being dethroned, even by accident and not malice.
I kidded with one fellow about being a “spy” because he always wore a trench coat, which he would frequently don to go outside to smoke a cigeratte. He took it in good humor and laughed. But a government client overheard (it wasn’t my intention to be overheard) and this was one at a lower level of government that feared being the subject of a sting. Complained to my boss. My boss got nervous. I don’t wish to say more. (Not my current job, which is in the private sphere and much, much better.)
I know more than I can see. Dude screwed up. Period.
I had really wondered about him having a criminal record.
So, the Secret Service screws up and this guy’s out of a job? That really seems unfair.
Of course Obama will do nothing to help him. He’s a working man, and one can’t help those ‘little eichmans’ can one?
obama, spreading misery everywhere he goes.
All his luck was building up to one big lucky strike. Armed and with President Obama in an elevator. He must have felt great. The penultimate. Issued a firearm and then told to escort Obama in an elevator.
Sometimes people disobey unspoken rules and get into trouble. I hope he got another job without too much trouble.
I think if he’d wanted to kill the Prez, he would have. But he didn’t.
Probably embarrassed a lot of people. Bye bye scapegoat!
re: This guy was too bourgeois, too honest. Working a semi decent job, and carrying a... eek... gun!
Maybe you are right. If the guy had only been an aspiring rapper.....
He had been arrested several times, never convicted. Is that not part of a criminal record?
Yes! And he hadn’t acknowledged his Secret Service security guy for 2 years, probably because the guy was white.
If he had only known his place, like this man:
It never ceases to amaze me that in a group of 5 dummycrats, all 5 are unattractive.
The guy has a criminal record. He was just never convicted of any of them. Could be he was required to report those arrests on his job application, but never did. That in itself could get him fired. Here’s the quote from the article:
“Some news media organizations, as well as Representative Jason Chaffetz, Republican of Utah, said erroneously that the security guard had been convicted of felonies. Mr. Tate had been arrested several times, including on charges of robbery and assault, but never convicted.”
You and I are 2 thoroughly unsympathetic souls. Do I have a complex about that? No, I most assuredly do NOT!!!
Ugly women HAVE to marry the government - No man would ever be attracted to those lumps.
(But their government is not a faithful lover - Rather, their government screws everybody including those who love it for what they have been told is security and life support and ever-lasting adoration.)
That is a man, isn’t it?
Yes it is, and in my opinion, he never should have been given the job, especially one that required him to carry a weapon. Quite possible that a background check was never done on the guy before they hired him.
Jeez...you’d think that Lincoln had just freed the slaves.
Typical journalist: “magazine clips” are the thingys in the centerfold’s belly button.
Because getting tossed down the elevator shaft does not work as well.
