The Pyrrhic Victory: Tuesday Could End the GOP
Breitbart: The Conversation ^ | November 2, 2014 | Dan Riehl

Posted on 11/03/2014 8:06:04 AM PST by Bratch

Some prominent Republicans seem to be feeling their oats, assuming what are sometimes infamously referred to as "RINOs" or Republicans in name only by the Conservative GOP base, eat oats, of course. Mitt Romney is merely channeling Jeb Bush here in an increasingly obvious last-minute GOP establishment gesture to reach out to Hispanics, perhaps especially in Colorado, as we move closer to election day.

On "Fox News Sunday, former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) said a Republican-led Senate would pass new, stronger legislation on immigration reform.

To be clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the GOP welcoming more and more Hispanics into a Right-leaning fold. In fact, it needs to do that. Unfortunately, there are few if any across the GOP's traditional - and much broader - rank and file supporters who still believe they'll do it with anything other than something amounting to trying to be better Democrats, than the Democrats themselves.

Republican Mike McFadden tried that in his bid to oust Al Franken in Minnesota. He's currently down by a Real Clear Politics average of ten points. The Mitt Romney, Karl Rove and perhaps now Jeb Bush led GOP refuses to accept the reality that they never will, nor can they be better Democrats than actual Democrats. Furthermore, the growing lack of enthusiasm and numbers across what was once a vibrant GOP base as they continue to try may indeed signal bad years ahead for a national party increasingly out of touch with their own past supporters around the nation.

I’m not voting.

I despise the RINOs as much as you do, but I despise Dems more. Let's weed out the Democrats then weed out the RINOs.

If a Republican Senate pushes or attempts to push through amnesty then the GOP will be committing Hara-Kiri.

Everyone is fully aware that “reform” is simply a euphemism for amnesty AND open borders for more disease ridden Mexicans.

Pubbies are being sent to congress to secure the borders and stop these illegal EOs. They don’t do that, the party is dead. I seriously doubt Mitch and the rest of the traitorous RINOs have any intention of doing either. In two years the [former] party base will simply stop voting for Republicans.

Good luck getting that from the establishment.

By the way, if Freepers have forgotten, with few exceptions, those are their candidates.

Exactly.

One war at a time. It is like WW2. We defeat Germany first(the Democrats). Then we go after Japan (the eGop).

Primaries is when to vote to make the party more conservative. General election is when to vote the Rats out.

One exception: Primary is polluted by liberals to the point of affecting the outcome. (Mississippi)

For the record,
Republicans Vote on the 4th,
Democrats vote on the 5th.

Well if you don’t vote don’t come on here beaching about everything later. The only power you have as an individual in the political system is your vote. Use it.

Here in New Mexico, it is extremely hard for me to get excited about voting against Tom Udall, when the man I have to vote for, Allen Weh, has absolutely no problem making money on an Obama regime contract to fly the illegals further into the country using his aviation company.

Sooooo you think this is nothing like 2010? Well, you are part of the problem.

GET OFF YOUR Ar$e and VOTE. Let's MAKE it like 2010 or worse. IMHO you start with getting GOP elected and scummy fraud-encouraging dems out of office. THEN you go after the GOPe leaders and dump them.

Dems never, never give up. Just one baby step at a time. Do you think the disgusting gay/lesbian agenda being pushed on our precious children began overnight? Do you think all the Islamic influence embedded in the White Hut, state department, DHS and IRS and everywhere else started overnight?

So, please stop this “I'm not voting” nonsense and get out and vote. As for the Primaries and your / our favorite conservative...... THAT SHIPPED HAS SAILED until next primary. THEN at that point we can all get off our ar$$e$ and get a real conservative through that stage of this game.

Rant off.

I totally agree with your idea. I am voting to get rid of Rats, even local Rats.

2016 will depend on performance in the next two years.

Not to mention, I would love to see the whining and gnashing of teeth from the media if Rats lose a lot.

If it looks like that is going to happen election night, I might pop some popcorn and fix a margarita and prepare to laugh. Now that is entertainment!

I’m voting although I really don’t need to. Solid Republican state. I’m going so I can cast another vote for Jeff Sessions.

People like you are part the reason are in the mess we are in. Don’t bitch and complain if Dems win and further destroy the country.

Hope your “Principles” can put good on your table and make you feel safer from terrorism.

The GOP IS useless. That much is self evient. It is a party without a soul that stands for nothing. But I’ll vote GOP regardless just to temporarily rid us of the Demoncrap scourge that is destroying the nation.

I seriously doubt that the GOP will be any different after the election. Maybe worse; that’s a distinct possibility.

Well said. Those in the GOP need to set aside their silly differences for a while and recognize that the enemy is the soft communist in the so-called “progressive” wing of the Democrat Party, which as far as I can tell, is about 95% of them.

Yes, it’s always a “pyrric” victory when ‘Pubs and/or conservatives win. When ‘Rats/liberals win, it is always “historic”, and a “mandate”. The press has standard words to describe things, so just ignore those labels.

I’m tired of all of this talk of Pyrrhic victories: If we win, we lose, in other words. Total BS if you ask me. The Dems, of course, never think and act that way. They fight to win EVERY election and so should we.

That's because "we" are not all talking about the same "we" in every instance.

If the GOP wins, who wins? The GOP. The RINOs. But what about conservatives, do they win?

The GOP vs. Democrat party fight no longer embodies the conservative vs. liberal fight. Its more like the ultra liberals versus the mild liberals.

So if the GOP wins, the conservatives "win" in that we get the somewhat less liberal "mild liberals" rather than the ultra liberals.

But is that a "win" for the conservative movement, for people who really support conservative ideals?

Or does it empower the GOP to keep stuffing itself with mild liberal RINOs and claim its what their voters want? Does it give the GOP more of a mandate to squash those few conversative GOP candidates that they so love to step on?

I agree that the GOP consistently sabotages itself while the Dems fight to win at all costs. But that's because all the Dems care about is winning, staying in power and owning the government. They are all liberals, so when the Dems win, the liberals win, and when the Dems lose, the liberals lose.

Conservatives want to win to change things, fix things, peel back the ever-expanding government, and then go home. The GOP does NOT want this. The GOP does NOT want to shrink government. They want to get in power and stay in power. That's why they aren't really against Obamacare -- it expands the government, which the GOP will love once they can get in there and run it themselves. Conservatives just want it to go away.

The conservatives are frogs in the water pot, hoping the GOP wins so they only turn the heat up 2 or 3 notches, rather than the Dems who will crank it up 6 or 8 notches.
