After a video of a woman experiencing over 100 instances of street harassment during a 10 hour period walking the streets of New York City went viral, Funny Or Die News decided to conduct an experiment to see what happens to a white man walking the streets of NYC.

I am a white male. A good-looking white female friend of mine who lives in New York City has complained to me about the never-ending catcalls. It's definitely offensive, and I wish she didn't have to endure it. Yet she chose to leave a location where it never happens to move where it often happens, and she chooses to stay there, so my sympathy has a limit.

I believe I have made exactly one catcall in my life, to a female friend as a joke, when she was dressed especially well. She laughed.

As for the "guys will be guys" excuse, I don't recall any of my male friends ever catcalling, or even discussing catcalling. Did we notice attractive women? Absolutely! Did we grab our crotches and shout idiotic comments? Nope.

The video was made by Hollaback and a number of feminazis including Sandra Fluke sit on their board.

I’m waiting for someone to make a “10 hours of walking in rural America”, where a pretty woman with an open-carry handgun on her hip goes out for a walk. She’d be met with nothing but hat-tips and “hello, miss” and she’d fear nothing......

NYC was fantastic before the 1990s then Giuliani came in and although he got rid of a lot of crime, he basically made living there like living under your mother, and this was before 911. But when Bloomberg came in, forget it...It was absolute hell on earth, no other way to describe it. That was the 2nd terrorist attack against the city, from city hall itself. Can you believe it got so bad at one point that he actually wanted landlords to submit a list to the city of all the tenants who smoke? Where have we seen that before? Nazi Germany “Submit a list of all the tenants who are Jewish”... That was the final straw for me and I don’t even smoke, I had to get the hell out of there ASAP. To Bloomberg, the constitution did not exist. It was truly a despotic state in every sense of the world. He dictated every single aspect of your life. What kind of business you had, how much money you made, what you owned, even free speech...You can’t protest unless the Despot approves of it and of course who did he approve? The Occupy wall street terrorists who he let terrorize businesses and people around Wall street for almost a year, it was just absolute absolute absolute hell on earth living there, I like to say it was like living in North Korea but with food but only the food the despot approves of. Bloomberg acted just like Kim Jung Un, every big parade, sports parade, New Year celebration, he ALWAYS had to be front and center , always, when the Giants won the Superbowl guess who was in the first car front and center as if HE won it? The Dear Leader Mike Bloomberg. The guy is an absolute psychopath and if he EVER EVER gets the idea to run for President I will retire and spend every last waking hour doing nothing but warning people about him. He is without question the most dangerous man in the United states. If ever you wanted the US to become a totalitarian state, he’s the guy to do it. There is absolutely no constitution with this guy, there is only “Mike Bloombergs will”.

Did the landlords give in to his ridiculous demand about smokers? I assume they didn’t.

He seems to be a touch daft.

“I wonder what “Hollaback” proposes to do about this, besides collect money and “raise awareness”, especially since any remedy would have a “disproportionate impact” on black men.”

It is a thinly-veiled Dem commercial to motivate white women to stay on the victim farm and vote for Dem candidates (the same candidates those black guys will probably be voting for).

This was not funny. It was meant as a put-down to every woman who has had to tolerate harassment while walking in the city.

What's good for the goose troll is good for the gander.

The woman in the original video had a right to be left alone. And this video mocks that right.

What right is this? When out in public she's at the mercy of civil behavior or the lack of it, on the part of everyone else. How does she or anyone else have a right to never encounter boorish behavior? Have boors been outlawed?

This wild, expansive but ill-defined notion of "rights" has got to be reined in. It's shocking to see it on FR.

Interesting. Many years ago, in college, I had a girlfriend who was - let us say - very well-endowed. I asked her about the whistles. She was no shirking violet. And she told me that she never liked the whistles. And sometimes they scared her.

I'm so sorry about that. Please let her know that I will whistle more quietly next time.

From my later post: (post #37): I'm not talking about legal or civil rights here. I'm talking about standards of civilized behavior. A person in public has the right (reasonable expectation) to assume that others will treat him/her in a civilized manner.

So I'm not arguing for any legal remedies here. I'm arguing that men should behave in an honorable and civilized manner, especially when dealing with women they don't know.

I would add one more thing to my post #50. My argument is that men should behave in an honorable way towards women, and women have a “right” (reasonable expectation) to be treated that way. I believe that is a very FR way of thinking. I hope you might agree.

I am here tonight looking at your blah, blah. Seriously, son, we do not give a damn. (Just reviewing to see if I was in line with conservatives...seems I was....give me a whistle when you see me on the sidewalk.) Go back to DU with your views or go here to help women: http://article.wn.com/view/2013/10/14/Menstrual_Man_Had_An_Idea_To_Help_Indian_Women/

Wow. We had previously concluded what I thought was a respectful conversation (see posts #32, 34, 39, and 40).

We certainly disagreed on this issue. I believe men should act as gentlemen at all times. You think I’m going overboard on this. Perhaps you are right.

But note that I was respectful to you at all times, and I never insulted you personally. I offered you best wishes in my post #39, and you returned it in your post #40.

I am sorry that you have since decided to insult me personally, because I did enjoy our conversation. One can always learn something from opposing viewpoints. But because of the insult, I will no longer respond to you on this issue, or on any other. I’m guessing that you’ll be alright with that.
