Wow. Lots more have been banned from teaching because of sex crimes than due to drug crimes or other crimes.

Any impropriety or illegality is troubling. But you wonder, can we do anything to judge the content of the character, or any other screening, to keep bad apples away from our children; to keep them out of the teaching profession?

"Eighty-eight teachers over the last decade have been permanently removed from Colorado classrooms for sexual improprieties – the vast majority violating young victims from their own schools."

88 perps in one state in one decade - it seems that far outpaces the rate of abuse within the Catholic clergy. Yet we rarely hear about it, we rarely see stories about the problem of sex abuse in public schools. Where are the headlines? Where are the $500 million lawsuits?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Oh, those fun-loving “educators”. I guess whatever they are doing it is “for the children”. Anyone who doesn’t home-school is not using good judgement.
