The findings are according to a new study conducted by military experts for the publication Business Insider.
Israels military is the most powerful in the Middle East while its air force ranks second to none globally, according to a new study conducted by military experts for the publication Business Insider.
The publication ranked the 15 strongest armies in the region while noting the size of the countries respective defense budgets as well as the latest geopolitical tumult and its impact on military strength.
A close defense relationship with the US and an energetic domestic defense industry give Israel a qualitative edge over all of the region's other militaries, the report stated.
Israel has space assets, advanced fighter jets, high-tech armed drones, and nuclear weapons. Its air force has incredibly high entry and training standards.
"Pilot to pilot, airframe to airframe, the Israeli air force is the best in the world," Chris Harmer, a senior naval analyst at the Institute for the Study of War, told Business Insider.
Harmers research was partially used to rank the militaries of the region.
Israel also has one of the region's most battle-ready armies, a force that has fought in four major engagements since 2006 and has experience securing a few of the most problematic borders on earth, the report read.
Israel's military has also never attempted a coup or ruled the country directly, unlike several others on this list. Thanks to Israel's small size, the military can rapidly mobilize its reserves on relatively short notice.
Turkey was ranked the second most powerful military in the region, followed by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.
Their world situation gives them an excellent reason to need it.
I’ve always heard the Israeli Air Force had the best pilots in the world. I’ve never seen anything official in that regard, but I wouldn’t doubt it. Given the small size of their country and proximity to their enemies, they probably require their pilots to be on a literal standby 24/7, 365 days per year. If stuff goes bad, I’d imagine they’d have only minutes to be in the air and ready to intercept targets.
This because Israel Instituted a progressive diversity program to bring in more minorities and LGBTQs. It is paying off greatly for them.
Said no one ever.
There has never been an Arab army worth its weight in anything. After Israel in the middle east, there is nothing.
I think safe to say duh we kinda knew that around here
I recall back in the ‘80’s when Israel fought Syria they shot down over 100 Syrian planes, and if I recall correctly they only lost 1. Not that the Syrian air force is even close to a match for Israel.
I think the Israeli Air Force may be “pilot for pilot and airframe to airframe”
the “best” in the world.
But, I strongly disagree that the point is settled.
Why? Because the pilots and equipment they’ve been up against are the worst in the world. Simply put, a raghead in a sophisticated fighter plane
is little different from a chimpanzee in a sophisticated fighter plane.
Beautiful!
“Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Psalm 121:4
Actually during the Egypt conflict Israeli pilots were up against Russian pilots...results were the same!!!
They Syrian AF at the time flew mostly MiG-21’s and MiG-23’s, which were completely no match against the F-15 and F-16 fighters the Israeli AF flew. As such, the Syrian AF came close to being wiped out.
They probably had to post signs along the Syrian border that read: “Watch for Falling Aircraft”. lol
That was a slaughter! Assuming the Israeli pilot survived, imagine how they must have felt like total crap being the ONLY one to lose their plane on their side, while the Syrians lost 100! I bet they gave him a hard time about that for years. lol
The only reason Israel lost any aircraft was the enemy launched waves of anti-aircraft missiles. They mostly shot down their own planes!
You can infer a lot about quality by just looking at entry standards & wash-out rates — all things being equal (which they seldom are, I grant).
In the 1970s I saw the Air National Guard described as having the most skilled pilots in the world, because of the years of flying and combat experience among it’s pilots, they were much more experienced than their younger, active duty counterparts.
Are u talking about 67?
Yes!!
I seem to remember, perhaps wrongly, that in a joint exercise (Red/Blue) with the USAF, the Israelis won.
More than likely, the IAF is also not obsessed with spreading atheism, forcing the embrace of homosexuality, same-sex marriage and transgenders, and force feeding its members the “religion of peace” meme. They’re letting the Air Force be the Air Force.
