Republicans are outnumbered by Democrats in New Mexico voter registration 47 percent to 31 percent, while independents, or voters who decline to state (DTS) a party affiliation, represent 19 percent.

Richardson was on one of the talking head programs this weekend and predicted Martinez would lose ... interesting ...
Reagan pulled in a lot of Democrats. One thing people forget is that conservatives outnumber liberals everywhere except Hawaii and DC. If a politician actually stands for the people rather than Big Government, they can win despite the advantage of registered Dems over GOP.
alright, for the most part. &mdashh; Not as good as Johnson was [IMO], but loads better than the Richardson (I don't remember King, so can't compare).
I do wish she had the fortitude to bring the invasion, the so-called illegal immigration, to focus by declaring a state of invasion, mobilizing the National Guard to enforce the border, and demanding the FedGov assist as per Art 4, Sec 4 of the US Constitution — it would utterly, and instantly, change the political landscape and open/taunt the Congress to stepping into outright Treason.
Where does she stand on immigration, abortion, Common Core, etc? If conservative enough she could be considered for the national ticket. A conservative Hispanic woman. Libtard heads would explode.
Meaningless. No politician will ever admit that a candidate of his/her party is going to lose days before an election. It just doesn't happen.
Their heads already are exploding about a possible Ted Crus and Allen West or Ben Carson ticket......they can’t get over the fact that Republicans actually have Hispanic and blacks in the party.
From what I remember in her last election she didn't 50% of the Hispanic vote, and may not get it in this election. -Tom
Susana was the cover story in that last issue of national review. interesting lady.
That would be an interesting ticket. Ted Cruz/Allen West.
The part of NM I was living in (Lea County) was a hive of pure capitalism and conservative values. Albuqueerque must really screw things up for everyone else.
In general, NM is fairly Conservative, despite the high D #’s.
I lived in ABQ many years ago and it has grown immensely since then and become a hot bed of liberalism. Partly due to the young skulls full of mush at UNM.
S. Martinez spoke at the 2012 Republican Convention, did she not? She was the pub who didn’t realize she was a republican until speaking with members of the party. She and her husband switched parties after that brief encounter. She was well spoken and seemed to be as good as any other Conservative.....but haven’t a clue if true.
Someone on the comments section of the actual article indicated that she supported common core and immigration reform. So.............. I guess some NM folks will be the ones to make the final choice. But, at least she ins’t a dem. Now.
