Millions of students in public schools don’t understand fractions or pronouns at even a basic level but students in the oceanfront Boston suburb of Revere, Mass. are taking the time to learn all about Islam — in the most embarrassingly shallow and cheerleading way imaginable.
Part of the textbook prints the Muslim Call to Prayer, according to Boston NBC affiliate WHDH.
“I bear witness that there is no God but Allah,” it says.
The textbook portion also reverently celebrates Muhammad’s life.
“Muhammad never expected to change world,” the admiring, rah-rah textbook reads.
“Muhammad later tended sheep on the dry hills like many young Arabians,” the text explains. “Later he became a successful merchant and married a wealthy widow. However, he felt as though something was missing in his life, so he went on a retreat.”

Well, you can call it a “religion” if you wish. My study on islam was in an ideology class in college. And we did not have to recite the “prayer” about there is no god but allah. Islam is an ideology bent on world conquest and nothing more than a cult. Remember Jim James and his cool aide? That was a “religion” too. Do I need to know how they think? Well, they show it rather well every day. It may have been on this site or another, where I read about the woman who was accused of adultery. They put her in a hole in the ground. She begged her father for mercy, and then the “father” started it off by throwing the first stone. This is how they think, huh? Then another case, just a couple of days ago where an uncle warned his 11 year old niece about wearing lipstick. Then uncle sees her a day or two later wearing lipstick and sets her afire and burns her alive. Burned more than 90% over her body. No I don’t think I have to learn any more about how these vermin think. I used to call them barbarians, but now believe they have not risen to that level yet. They are savages, always have been and always will be. You, of course, are entitled to your opinion.
It was a world history class.
There is a difference between what is done in the name of a religion and what are the fundamental tenets of that religion.
If you did not want your kid to understand how a billion or so people think, perhaps you should not have allowed your kid to take the course.
C’mon, you don’t SERIOUSLY think that the descriptions shown from the course depict anything even remotely like psycho muslim reality?

This story is about a week old. There are lots of other, and usually better sources for stories than FR. It is a good starting place, but the sources here tend to be incredibly biased. So it’s a good idea to look around to get a decent news source.

I really don’t care about the story.
But if you believe this was a surprise to anyone other than the ignorant parent, you don’t have much idea how the schools work here in MA. They are so paranoid about lawsuits, everything is vetted six ways to Sunday. Yes, they are liberal. But when it comes to religious teaching in the public schools, the MTA is an equal opportunity haters.

absolutely appropriate for a comparative religion as an elective subject in a university...anything below that level it is totaally out of line.

There is a ton of stuff taught in high schools these days that don’t match our curriculum. They think they are smarter than us. They aren’t.

There is no God but Jesus Christ. Jesus is God incarnate (John 1:1-10,1 Timothy 3:16).
God the Father calls him God: “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter is thy scepter of thy kingdom.” (Hebrews 1:8)
If you don’t have the Son, you don’t have the Father. (1 John 2:22-24)
Both Islam and Judaism deny that Jesus is the Christ. Consequently, they don’t have the Father, but rather worship a false god.
