My old Sony 7600 is one of my prized possessions.

You mean a Sony SW-7600? Yep, damn' fine SWL radio in a very small package. Have one, bought it brand spanking new back in (1990?) just in time to listen to Desert Storm.

Now I'm an Amateur Radio guy and can listen on anything from my old Yaesu FT-101ZD, my Kenwood 940SAT or my newer Kenwood TS-2000 with my fan Dipole @ 50'.

Granted there's the advantage of being licensed to transmit in the 1.8 - 30mhz bands. :-)

Did I mention my old Radio Shack DX-160 -- the KING of SWL Radio's being in perfect working condition and having the most sensitive receive of any SW Radio I've ever had? It just rocks.

The DX160 was a hot receiver no doubt, and in fact I had some trouble with microphonics in mine that eventually got sorted out with the help of a fellow ham. Mine is long gone now, sold to help pay for a first HF transceiver. Before that I had a Hallicrafters 5R10A with a home made BFO added. Of course the old tube radio was better in some ways but I had a lot of fun with both of them. The DX160 was the receiver I had when I first became a licensed amateur.

Like you, I do my SWLing with one of my transceivers now (at least what little I do).
