Here’s the report on what’s going down.

“Under the Alaska Constitution, mineral resources are owned collectively by state residents, and under the new law, he said, they could be sold in some circumstances to oil companies for almost no revenue in return.”

So Parnell is unravelling her signature achievement for Alaska. Why would she be satisfied with and supportive of that? Crony capitalism? You betcha.

I understand that the CBC (Corrupt Bastards Club) is back and Parnell is in their pocket. Palin delivered a knockout blow to the CBC and sent several of them to jail, beat the oil companies in court and made them start paying the royalties they owed per the state Constitution and now Parnell has turned that all around and has taken the state back to the corrupt pre-Palin days. Obviously she sees that Parnell, in the end, can not be trusted and has likely been corrupted, thus she will not endorse him. It shows again how much character she has. As far as Red State goes, they are really just dailykos for right wing purists, and most of their commentators have hated Palin for a very long time. It is a site that is made to be an echo-chamber for like minded people, actual debate is discouraged, tow the line or you’re out, simple as that.

So true. Alaska is a very very weird state politically. Makes Louisiana look normal by comparison. And a lot of the strangeness has to do with crony oil deals.

Her future was launched by fighting just that. She had to do this. It’s very consistent with her past. I wonder if the Red State author has ever been to Alaska or knows anything about it.

There was an Alaska Dividend on Oil revenue long before Sarah Palin became Governor. Each citizen received an annual check for a percentage of Oil profits in the state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund
