Given the choice between being a “bird on a wire” or a “bird in a cage” too many Americans have chosen the cage. They get fresh water and the same bird seed every day. Someone changes the paper on the bottom of the cage once in a while. But they will never know what it means to soar in the wind and perch on the highest branch of the tree.
However, they might one day learn what it's like to be plucked and thrown into a pot.
