President Bush Convenes Refugees and Leaders on North Korean Human Rights

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Dallas, Texas (October 23, 2014) —

Today President Bush met with leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss ways to advance the cause of human freedom in North Korea. Five North Korean refugees also shared their stories of escape and their experiences building new lives in the United States as a result of the 2004 North Korean Human Rights Act, which President Bush signed into law 10 years ago.

The gathering was part of a year-long, bipartisan Bush Institute effort to raise global attention to the human suffering in North Korea and identify additional steps the United States and other free societies can take to support the people of North Korea.

“This project has been unique in its gathering of a diverse group of stakeholders motivated by the singular desire to improve the human condition of North Koreans,” said Victor Cha, a Fellow in Human Freedom at the Bush Institute and Korea Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “President Bush cared deeply about this issue while in office and has made this a priority of the Institute’s work in human freedom.”

Bipartisan means one thing to well-intentioned Republicans like GWB but liberals don’t share that view. With them there’s is no such thing as working together or compromising. Naive and gullible Republicans just can’t seem to ever understand that.
