When it comes to liberal causes, U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski usually is a stranger.
The Southwest Sider is a Blue Dog Democrat in a party in which moderate conservatives like him have almost disappeared. Last year he was one of just seven House Democrats and the only one from Illinois to vote against re-electing Nancy Pelosi as House Democratic leader. He's joined with Republicans in a variety of causes and not too long ago was clearly pleased when his name was floated as a potential U.S. ambassador to the Vatican.

Included: calls and meetings from Cardinal George and his emissaries, messages from Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, a letter from City Council Finance Committee Chairman and Ald. She referred to Lipinskis open borders policy, saying illegal immigration is causing school overcrowding, among other things.
Lipinski did not address the border issue, but during a recent town hall meeting he hosted in Oak Lawn, he called for comprehensive immigration reform and secure borders.

On that day AMNESTY DIED for good in this Congress. Obama can now play his games and forgive them for entering illegally...but he CANNOT forgive them for being here illegally. A decent Republican president (if we ever get one again) can DEPORT ALL OF THEM, if he chooses.
