"As the clash of civilizations between the Free West and Sharia Islam heats up once again we find that some libertarians are more interested in fighting the heirs of Charles Martel than they are the heirs of Mohammed.
The old story of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good."
Having a largely engineering and science background, I had to look up who Charles Martel was. French king, lived in the 6th century. So, no, my argument was not centered around getting back at the French.
"...The Free West..."
What makes it "Free"? What does it mean to be "Free"? The arguments offered in favor of this law inevitably lead to:
"All Citizens Must Dress in a Manner that does not interfere with the State's Surveillance System."
"All Citizens Are Required To Remove Any Article of Clothing at the Behest of A Law Enforcement Official in the Interests of Security"
Yeah, that sounds "Free" to me.
Laws written to "take an inch" are used to "take a mile" when it suits the purposes of those who are in power.
I would bet that nearly every one on this board is in favor of Concealed Carry of Firearms. Even so, listen to the very words used IN THIS THREAD by our very own:
"She ... could ... start shooting the crowd with that gun shes carrying..." - Jack Hydrazine
How long before some anti-second amendment LEO's start targeting folks OTHER than muzzies once such a law is passed?
I said it earlier, and I will say it again: Be Careful What You Wish For, You Might Actually Get It.

No surprise there judging from what you post. To be blunt you are clueless about the ruthless nature of Islam and how close it came to enslaving all of the Free West. And how it once again is rising as a major threat to the Free World.
“...The Free West...” What makes it “Free”? What does it mean to be “Free”?”
It used to be that anyone who attended college had at least a rudimentary knowledge of freedom in Western Civilization. Athens and Sparta stopping the advance of the Persian Empire at Thermopylae. King John being forced to sign the Magna Carta at Runnymede. The end of monarchy and the rise of liberty in the United States. The long twilight struggle of the Free World with the Soviet Union. That sort of thing.
The fact that you can ask “what does it mean to be ‘Free’” tells me that you have little knowledge of the type of societies that the vast majority of people have lived under throughout history, and how rare the freedom enjoyed in the West is.
I forget that there is an entire generation that was born after the collapse of the Soviet Union and which has no idea what ‘the Free World versus the Soviet Bloc’ could possibly mean, despite the fact that it was the background of life for more than half a century. Well the Soviets are gone now but Islam will gladly teach you the lesson of what the absence of freedom is, and it will force you to fight to hang on to the freedoms of the West as imperfect as you find them to be.
