BND President Gerhard Schindler presented the agency's findings, including satellite images and diverse photo evidence, to members of the parliamentary control committee responsible for monitoring the work of German intelligence

How about releasing the report to the public Fritz?

According to Spiegel, the BND has intelligence suggesting that pro-Russian separatists captured a BUK air-defense missile system at a Ukrainian military base, and fired a missile on July 17 that exploded in the vicinity of the Malaysian aircraft

This is a German propaganda piece intended to absolve Putin and the Russian government of responsibility for the murder of 298 people. Note, no mention of who the rebels are, who controls their actions or who their goals might align with. The general impression is that the Ukrainian government should have taken better care not to have their air defense missiles captured.

Also note, the last report blamed the crash on "large number of high-energy objects". This report blames those rascally rebels, whoever they are. The final report, due out after the winter heating season, will probably contain some criticism of Russia without being too harsh on the EU's great trading partner but that's just speculation.

Immediately after the plane was struck, separatists were crowing about having shot down a military transport plane. I forget the type of plane, but it had the exact same shape, just much smaller, as the passenger jet. I never had any doubt that separatists shot it down. But what is key is that the plane flew over a war zone, and was mistaken for a military plane.

Notice the careful wording. They captured a missile system and fired a missile. No specification that they fired the missile fron the captured launcher; just that they did both. So if they fired from a Russian supplied the launcher which was used, the German author can still imply that the blame lies with Ukraine for leaving a launcher lying around.

I still want to know where the launcher was hidden after the attack. That was stashed away very quickly in someone's neighboring country.

“pro-Russian separatists captured a BUK air-defense missile system at a Ukrainian military base, and fired a missile on July 17 that exploded in the vicinity of the Malaysian aircraft.”

It’s not a damn .22!
You don’t just aim and fire a BUK.
It takes quite a bit of training.
Regular RUSSIAN military fired the weapon!

They have come up with a way to blame all parties, that’s remarkable. Just a question: Who trained these Ukrainians citizens how to acquire a target and shoot?
