We don't need an Ebola czar
CNBC ^ | 10-17-14 | Jeffrey Sachs, director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University

There is no case for an American Ebola czar, least of all another political "fixer" who has no expertise in public health. This is just another case of the Obama administration putting politics before substance, and cowering at the idiocy and vileness of the Republicans in Congress.

We already have an enormously competent national Ebola leader: Tom Frieden at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We already have an enormously competent coordinator for U.S. Ebola aid overseas: Raj Shah, the Administrator of USAID. What we need now is a president who backs up his front-line team.

Bingo.

...opines the director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University. While he may be right, the irony is strong.

Have you read about the woman who is really in charge of health emergencies such as Ebola, the assistant secretary of Health and Human Services, Nicole Lurie. She is a doctor, but she is also just a political fire fighter. Three years ago, she was involved in a bit of a scandal over the transfer of grant money from the company that is making the only Ebola drug that is being used, to a company owned by an Obama donor, named Perleman. The donor’s company went bankrupt and never produced anything.

Laurie’s previous experience included handling health issues for ALCOA, putting out the political fires over the hazardous waste sites that ALCOA created around their shelters.

The only thing Klain will be doing is arranging the crashing of harddrives...period...

And threatening and breaking kneecaps to keep all on the BO plantation. He will make sure there is no crack, no dissent from the Pres.

I heard that the czar is a good manager. Maybe Obola should report to him instead.
