This is one of my favorite Soviet propaganda images which got a lot of use in the 1980s, a picture of a combined-arms operation involving Mi-24s and Soviet probably T-55 or T-62 tanks. Except that it's fake. Your average Soviet tank is about 11 feet wide. The Mi-24 is 57 feet long. No way this angle works in the real world. It's even more obvious in a better print.

Damn fascinating reading, Thank you!

Always was amazed when I first read that the Hind had to taxi to take off.

But what did i know about helo ops in hot weather, until I was in a Bell with too many souls at Ft Irwin and the pilot had to drag along the ground to get some airspeed?

Had actually experienced low lift many years before, but being a lowly gunner listening in on intercom, had no idea what was being discussed.................

The Hind looks a bit like the Clone Troop Transport in Star Wars.
