AUSTIN, Texas -- Houston Mayor Annise Parker has backed down from the subpoenas the City of Houston issued to several area pastors, Breitbart Texas has learned.
Breitbart Texas reported earlier about the controversy, stemming from litigation challenging the city's anti-discrimination ordinance and subpoenas asking the pastors for the content of their sermons, speeches and communications with church members. Texas Senator Ted Cruz weighed in, firmly supporting the pastors in their efforts to fight the subpoenas, while Mayor Parker initially remained adamant that the city had the right to request those records. Despite posting comments on Twitter just hours before that seemed to indicate she would continue to fight this issue, she told a Houston radio station that she has changed her mind.

She’s also in her last year as Mayor, so whomever runs next year, we can hang this around the neck of the leftist nominee.
I hear ya, Boiler Plate. The Church shouldn’t have any such relationship with the government. Regardless, the Constitution protects our rights.
I have read the entire article. We’ll see what happens, but her blatant unconstitutional attack against Christians will not go down without a fight.
That really is not true. I read just tonight because of this what pastors can do and is much more broad than thought. I’ll try to find it.
What gets me is that Black churches are totally political in fundraising, speeches by politicians they support from their pulpits, and getting their members to the polls. Yet, they are NEVER questioned or scrutinized.
In reality, I have no problem with churches being involved in politics as far as promoting candidates who share and support Christian values, morality, and religious freedom. But the double standard is pretty obvious.
Churches and individuals of faith are protected by the Constitution. We have the right as American citizens to be involved in the political process and to freely exercise our right to free speech and the freedom to worship.
This is an all-out attack on Christians.
Gays and lesbians know all these marriages they have today and sex they engage in is freaky and abnormal. They know this and have internalized-repressed this guilt. To compensate they lash out at decent people when they feel powerful enough
Like this porky lesbian mayor and the ones who try to sue Christian businesses out of existence for refusing to bake a freaky wedding cake for them
Completely agree.
I have a feeling Sheila Jackson Lee’s church had something to do with this lesbian backing down.
How can people in America be so STUPID as to elect these Red bastards?
Blame ithis on the schools not teaching history.
dykezilla.
totalitarianism is integral to liberals because they incorrectly believe they are far more intelligent than anyone else and especially the stupid people that hold opposing views, and because they believe this, they believe that they can achieve their goals by any means necessary - the ends justify the means.
It was a probe, just like the Russian TU-95 Bombers heading towards Alaska, they are checking our response time, to see if we are awake, if we care, and what are responses will be to stop them.
I think you give them to much credit.
3 weeks before election day is some pretty stupid timing.
Too late. The cards are laid out on the table. We know what they ardently WANT to do to us.
It is in the same vane as Reid trying to stifle political speech and look how close to an election cycle he is. I am beginning to think they are all in such and alternative universe that time and timing doesn’t matter given their arrogance, the whole flippin’ bunch of them.
changed her mind over her personal vendetta against pastors?...or was her mind changed by the onslaught of criticism.....afterall, we got elections coming up....
They might actually believe they have a moonbat majority.
I would think the polls say otherwise.
I can’t wait until we get the winter of 68’ this year.
Watch em’ squirm. Ha!
