Contrary to popular belief, I dont like writing negative article about Republicans. I especially dont like criticizing Republican candidates running for office in the final month of the campaign. As I sat down to write this article at 9:15 p.m. last night, I had no clue what I was going to be writing about. I thought perhaps Id write about the Des Moines Registers latest Iowa Poll that shows Governor Terry Branstad leading his Democrat opponent by 15 points.

Had Young taken the stage at the District nominating convention back in June and said, Hi, Im David Young, and I support raising the minimum wage, means testing social security, a pathway to citizenship, new gas taxes, and oh yeah, we all just need to deal with Obamacare, he would have been booed off the stage. Seriously, it would have been a nasty sight.

Young is a RINO’s RINO and should NOT be elected to the House of Representatives. Republicans will be INCREASING their representation in the House from this year’s election. The NEW Republican House caucus that takes office in January 2015 will have a larger percentage of constitutional conservatives and a smaller percentage of RINOs. Young is not needed in Congress where his only mission will be to help tamp down the conservative caucus.
He’s one on only a small handful of Republican candidates where I would recommend voting for his opponent—solely to keep his duplicitous butt out of the Republican caucus.
Another Republican not worth voting for.
Both candidates in this race are nuts. I’d just leave it blank if I were in this district...thankfully I am not.
I just hope he doesn’t end up demoralizing voters that Ernst needs through his shenanigans.
The GOP really botched this district. Young, a former staffer for Sen. Grassley, started out in the Senate primary and was an early flop. The Democrats early settled on a lunatic candidate, even by their low standards, for this GOP seat in which the incumbent was retiring. Young switched his name to the already crowded field of what was expected to be an easy GOP win. I never understood the dynamics, but apparently all the contenders and their voters before Young entered the race hated each other. Iowa law requires a 50% majority, with primary races failing that going to conventions rather than run-offs. The vote was split too much for a majority with Young ending up 3rd or 4th. But at the convention votes shifted to the alternative they didn’t hate and the dull RINO slipped in. Maybe the Rat is so bad he’ll slip through again, but if he does credit Brandstad and Grassley for dragging him across the line. He’s run a lousy race.
