The only kind of good tax is when leftists tax their own kind. However they will overtax it like usual and then the black market kicks in to avoid it. Guarandamnteed.

Good. The State will have plenty of money to pay for the influx of freeloaders and dopers.

I read the other day that the homeless population has increased by between 50% to 100%. And it is likely to rise even more.

Maybe one or two cold winters will take care of the problem? Colorado is not like CA.

And when people finally realize that MJ is just as bad for you as cigs (cancer, etc.), then the State can use that extra money to pay for the increased medical costs — exactly the same argument that they used to justify getting a cut of the tobacco litigation pie from a few years ago.

So a state is making money off destroying people’s brains.

How much does the State collect in tobacco tax?

I wonder if there are similar reductions in spending & resources for police, prosecutor & courts now that they spend less time harassing people, seizing money, breaking down doors & shooting dogs.

Then legalizing was a monetary success. Health, values, etc. were a major fail.

To some people, this was a good idea. It meant to them that the government will let people decide for themselves how to live their life. Unfortunately, today’s pot is much stronger than it was thirty years ago, the abuse of it is starting at an earlier age, the odds of addiction are going up (something like one in six, I’ve read), a mixed message is sent to all young people about drug abuse. Instead of encouraging self-control and virtue, the government itself in Colorado says it’s fine to be wasted and stoned; it’s recreational. So along with all of the problems that come from alcohol we’ll be tackling even more with health and social problems with marijuana in the mix.

Wolfie, I have reached the point where I say , do away with treatment centers, legalize every narcotic drug under the sun and let nature take its course.

Colorado legalizes marijuana and (likely) turns into a red state. Cool!
