During the Bush administration, a Seattle parade featured a float with effigies of Bush and Cheney, and spectators were encouraged to take rotten vegetables from a cart and throw them at the effigies. Also, at Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot musical festival, I saw a guy selling t-shirts depicting Bush being shot in the head. To my knowledge, none of our local print or TV media took offensive with either of these things. Can you imagine the uproar if similar things were directed at Obama?
