In an all-out push to gain a governing majority, Republicans are trying to field Congressional candidates who actually want to govern.
Back on May 20, the National Republican Congressional Committee the House Republicans campaign arm announced it was launching a Drive to 245, a Babe Ruthian exercise in shot calling that implied the party would net an additional 11 seats in the November midterms.
Twenty-five days out from the elections, that remains an uncertain proposition. Republicans are sure to pad their majority, though gains in the single digits look more likely. As Greg Walden, the Oregon Republican who runs the NRCC, tells Fortune, It is attainable, but its a pretty high goal.
But the Republican boast was never really meant to nail the balloting results. Instead, it was a clever blend of hype and hope served up to major donors about what could follow the election: For GOP benefactors in New York, Washington and beyond whore past tired of self-destructive antics by Republicans reactionaries, the party tailored the push to conjure the dream of a reinvigorated Speaker John Boehner. Given the room, he could stiff-arm the tiny, troublesome right flank that nearly pitched the country into a debt default three years ago and generally made major headaches out of otherwise simple chores. One Republican operative spells out the subtext of the pitch to the corporate pragmatists the GOP is hitting up for campaign cash: We want to give Boehner a governable majority so the crazies you hate will be irrelevant.

Let’s define the words used in this article:
corporate pragmatists = crony capitalists, corporate welfare queens, unprincipled RINOs.
Republican reactionaries, tiny troublesome right flank, crazies you hate = traditional Republicans, Conservatives, Tea Party.
So you will elect the democrat. Thank you...my congressman is 90% conservative, but the Dem running for his seat is 0% conservative. The third party candidates (two of them running) are nuts...One is a libertarian when wants to legalize Marijuana, open the borders and sell off national parks the other makes Obama look like conservative.(He wants to nationalize the oil industries and railroad, ban most gas engines..and make Obamacare into a single payer system.)
Voters are not the property of any political party.
The Republicans are conservative talkers not conservative walkers.
I don’t expect my RINO to lose because the Democrat is too crazy and doesn’t stand any chance of winning in a district gerrymandered by the GOPe governor and legislature in PA.
Obama won this state by 5 percent in 2012 but we elected 13 Republicans out of 18 districts to Congress. Neat trick.
The time for tricks is over, we need honest common sense like the United Kingdom Independence Party is bringing to the UK.
Libertarians who are really socialists in disguise don’t deserve my interest.
It has to be a new authentic libertarian-conservative party that is Pro-Life on abortion but neutral on sex, pot and booze restrictions. A party that wants to balance budgets and downsize government. A party that defends freedom from attacks on constitutional rights ranging from gun ownership to speech and religion.
1: The only way the US was ever going to default was if Obama decided to defy the law and not pay the debt.
2: The budget battle was lost because RINO’s like John and Graham betrayed us.
Beyond that the only thing it really demonstrated was that theses people have no plans nor desire to every have a balanced budget, because the so called “Shut down” was simply Washington mostly running on Revenue and various accounting tricks.
3: The so called Washington & New York ‘moneyed interest’ convinced the RINO’s to start targeting their own base was clearly more interested in sabotious by leading the stupit on. Stupit because anyone with a brain knows people on the payrole of the very big goverment enemy we wish to vanquish are not likely to be anything more than 5th columns in the end. If you can make them usesfull in that capacity fine, but never trust them.
The republican leadership isn’t interested in reducing the size of government or preserving freedom. What they want is to have enough numbers in Congress so the leaders can be relevant players at the table so either they or their family members can cash in and feed at the trough of their K street or chamber buddies. That’s why they’re giving away the store and eradicating any conservatives who take orders once elected.
Open borders, more guest workers and immigrant labor, depress wages by importing H B 1 visas that’s what the leadership is working for. Build the fence, social issues, and rolling back Obama’s agenda that’s just not “realistic”. The base needs to realize it’s time to focus on being more efficient on getting things done in Washington.
