Yes, but it was demographics not politics that turned NYC deep blue. “Demographics is destiny”

One of the best periods of my life.

Sailing down to Ensenada. Up to Catalina. I was preparing for the Cabo run but took a job in Atlanta and then sold the old ‘Anne Marion’ (she was a pretty 41’ Tai Chao ketch). Also, the Coast Guard, even back then, was turning into a pain in the a$$, which was another factor (who wants to deal with Federal police).

Boaters are, by and large, good and friendly people. I had a really good time there and remember it fondly.

Y’all get back to me when you take voting seriously. When they start demanding Identifications at polling places, when the absentee ballots aren’t stuffed for months prior to the election day, when they start prosecuting people who vote in multiple states multiple instances. When the courts stop enabling vote fraud and start prosecuting it.

When voting in an American election becomes a privilege of citizenship, and not a global human right.

Until then, the American people kind of get what they deserve don’t you think? I mean they get what they vote for. They vote for licentiousness and benefits from tax payers, they reap corruption and violence. I will be watching it’s spinning into the septic tank right now.

It would be a disaster if the GOP was to be elected into office in these times. There is nobody that I’ve seen who has the capacity to stand up to the confusion and vitriol that will be generated when the Media and Hollywood spin up their machine. The same mechanism that concealed every part of the democrats corruption, malevolence, malfeasance will turn around and Lie about whatever the GOP tries to do in office. And you can bet that the democrats will pull the plug on the sword of Damocles economy that dangles pendulously over our heads. They’ve been stuffing wallstreet with worthless paper for almost a decade now and when they pull the pin, it’s going to come crashing down around the head of whomever is in office at the time. They’re going to blame the entire crash that’s coming on the tea party and the gop and the conservatives all the way back to Reagan. Not to mention all the foreign policy timebombs and domestic policy rakes in the yard that await the next leadership group to take over in DC.

So if the people of America are too stupid to figure out what Brak Ebola is doing then they’re going to need to learn the lesson again. And there’s nothing that we’re going to be able to do about it besides take the blame. When the American people get tired of the mendacity of the democrats and their benefactors then maybe it wont be too late. And if the republicans/conservatives cant get their messaging straight then it’s nothing but another trap. So let Hillary in there and give them the rope they need to hang themselves.

In 2008, the democrats took over and left a gigantic steaming swilling pile in the yard... don’t look to me to volunteer to clean up that mess.

ONLY persons have rights.

That's very clearly untrue: simply imagine a corporation being robbed, does it have the right to seek redress in the courts?
Obviously it does; but this is an example of a legal right.

What you are referring to that only people have are natural rights, but their existence does not preclude other rights (such as legal rights).

I don’t have the resources or clout to do that effectively, but you know how does? People like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and many others who have made millions telling the Conservative story and who have access to those with billions. I’ve detailed ideas in previous posts about how they could become the public voice, along with the Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, and other billionaires providing the financing and the Heritage Institute, Hillsdale College, Newt Gingrich, and others providing the intellectual and policy backbone to create a New Conservative Party. Maybe it’s time for them to put their money where their mouths have been for all these years, because as it is, they are the biggest supporters of the GOP which is rapidily losing any semblance of being a Conservative party.

The alternative is to somehow take control of the GOP and redefine what it is and does. And so far, I’ve heard no ideas about how that might be done.

I am newbier than the OP, but it only took me two weeks to realize that Lazamataz is quick-witted and funny (granted, I am not sure if that is to my credit or all credit to Mr Lazamataz). At the same, I am a self-proclaimed "weak-minded" individual. But I make up for it with a strong back. All I am sure of is that I am a conservative, and years of online poking around and finding myself bumping into links to FR, is what brought me here. I don't want to insult everyone here by now saying I feel we are like-minded (having already stated that I am weak-minded). But I do recognize that many here appear to have had very similar old time American upbringings. Mum, baseball, apple pie and Davy Crockett. It is with regret that I must say, my fellow Americans, we are on our way out.

From an earlier poster "I don't know how to deal with the fact that too many politicians become co-opted once they become comfortable in Washington, or the state or local governments".

It does seem that they get a taste of the gravy train and become addicted to the feed-bag. "Something" definitely gets to them. Either they were lying and deceiving while campaigning, or they find out something from their new vista that completely changes their perspective. Then it is dog-eat-dog when their elite positions are threatened. In another time, this behavior would be easily and readily written off as "he's been bought", or "he's in somebody's pocket", or "he's compromised his integrity". Today we use different terms. But the overall trend, for many years now, has turned America the beautiful into a very, very ugly and ungodly place.

Really, all I wanted to say is that I have found this thread to be a very helpful FR101 for any newbie struggling with the choice of the lesser of two evils. My pattern to date has been to cast my vote against someone. I will endeavor to rethink that.

I wonder how many FReepers have ever been to a precinct meeting.

When I first went to precinct meetings in the 70's in Houston, George and Barbara Bush would be there. I think he was still in the oil business.

You are so right...it starts at the precinct level. Sitting at computers and gripeing about the GOPe doesn't do any good. Going to Precinct meetings and getting your like-minded people elected to voting positions is the only was to beat Karl Rove.

The elites have done it for decades.

Somebody please tell me why we have to kowtow down and give our "blessings" and our votes to people who have molested us for years and we're not allowed to rise up and fight back when we could rid our Party, our nation and our very lives of a couple of them and still win control of the Senate.

Because conservatives need every Republican seat possible to assure a Republican takeover of the Senate.

You don't seem to grasp the reality that there will never be enough conservatives to elect 51 Ted Cruzs to the Senate. We have to put up with some establishment types to control it.

The goal is 1) win the Senate 2) Elect enough conservatives to control the agenda of the Senate and 3) elect a conservative President with a mandate.

I also suspect someone like you would be accusing Ronald Reagan of being a RINO if he were up for reelection because he granted amnesty to illegals and agreed to some tax increases.

Even principled conservatives aren't perfect. Grasp that fact or you're doing more harm than good.

So in November, for those whose only choice in the mid-terms is between a RINO and a Democrat, I urge them to stay home on election day, or vote third-party

Which is no different than allowing Democrats to remain in power. How has that been working out for the country>

ONLY ONE MORE RINO and Obamcare never would have passed into law. A John McCain or Mitt Romney would never have allowed ISIS to take over large portions of Iraq and Syria. Either would be restricting air travel to Western Africa to protect Americans against Ebola.

It's simply stupid to claim there isn't a dime's worth of difference between the parties.

People like you have set the bar so high that Ronald Reagan wouldn't be acceptable to you. But, Reagan was right when he said someone that agrees with you 80% of the time is your friend, not your enemy.

There are Republican Establishment operatives on this forum, is why.

Or maybe there are Democratic operatives working here trying to discourage conservatives from voting for Republicans like Pat Roberts, who have an 86% lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union.

At that rating, I’d probably vote for Roberts.

No matter how much of a low-life p.o.s. the Pubbie is, he’s not Harry Reid, so vote for him.

We've had attacks here on perfectly acceptable Republicans like Pat Roberts and Mike Rounds. If those candidates are acceptable, then we might just as well give up and allow Obama to have a communist dictatorship.

Third Way fascism, whether Clintonian or that of the Bushs, is still socialism and authoritarian socialists are just what the RepublicanEs are.

What a load of crap. George W. Bush looks like George Washington compared to Obama. Bush defended the nation and free world from the Muslims barbarians that want to take it over. Republicans -- EVERYONE OF THEM -- voted against Obamacare. No Republican would have opened the borders to tens of thousands of illegal children to spread diseases to American children. Most Republicans would stop air travel to Western Africa to protect Americans from Ebola.

It can done the same way it was done in 1980 -- by nominating and electing a conservative President.

But, some here are such puritans, Ronald Reagan would not be considered a conservative today.

It is my understanding that the ORIGINAL Bloody Mary was made with the mix and BEER. I still drink ‘em that way. The closest thing you can get to it day at most bars, is prolly a Chelada.

Voting RINO “R” nationally will only delay the civil war.

Just remind them that you do not owe your vote to anyone, the candidate must earn it.
And if the candidate doesn’t, too bad.

Our Founders would be appalled that Conservatives vote out of fear instead of based on Principles. Very sad.
